Got the rear frame gusset welded in for the gas tank and got the front brakes back together. Got the rear axles back in and hopefully we will have all the rear brakes done and all the fuel lines and brake lines done.

After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Gas tank is bolted in place along with rear cross bar. Rear brakes done. New hard lines from both wheels to tee and the long hard line from the front to rear is done. Rear end filled with 90/140 gear oil, tomorrow the front brake lines and maybe fuel lines ran.
Good day today I got the winch on the ramp truck fixed also.

Thanks, yea she is excited about her truck to say the least! I got the mini starter for it on yesterday and took the drive shaft to have it cut, balanced and new union's installed.
The mini starter is a shelf item at O-Reilly's for a 2000 Caddy Escalade 5.3.with staggered bolt holes.

Just got a shower and supper! I'm tired but I got a bunch done today on the 68.
Cab is ready to lift off
Both front fenders and inner fenders off, passenger side front inner fender is gone along with the cab corner on both sides.
Hood is off
Front grille is off and needs some major fixing!

The air passages on both sides need some repair work as well. I guess I'm going to get some welding time in soon.
It's going to be interesting for sure.

Got the first coat of fluorescent paint on the needles for the new Tack dash. Also got the first coat of stain on the steering wheel I'm working on. I will lightly sand it down tomorrow and stain it again.

I fixed my buddies sand blaster this week so I started using it for the 68. Been blasting parts all afternoon. It's a slow go. It needs a new glass and a bigger vacuum. It gets real cloudy quickly and you can't see what your working on. I think it needs a better light bulb to. I bought new gloves and media for it. I'm going back tomorrow and take the bulb out and put a new one in it and clean the glass. It has plexi glass in it right now.
But I got a few things done.

Just did a big order from GMC Pauls just now. A bunch of $$$$.$$ and this should just about get the truck back on the road. I hope to find a 67/68 front grille used but not dented up to go on it. Maybe some fenders to if I'm lucky.

A little more progress. The parts have been blasted and primed. The bed of the ramp truck makes for a nice paint surface. I welded up 3 bad spots to day on the cab. The air vents had rust in the bottom of them. I took metal and cut out the rust and welded in pieces. The drivers side floor has a little rust so I welded it up to.

Still have a bunch to do. I ordered a new 3 row aluminum radiator last week off E bay. it came in damaged and they sent me another one and said to keep the other one. No questions on it, can't beat that customer service.

Thanks,

I have a dead line of Dec 31,2019 to have this truck out of my friends shop. He is selling it and I need it done, well at least drive-able anyway. The bed will not be done by then I'm sure, seeing how I don't have one for it yet. I know I can't cut the LWB bed down before then. I just want it moving under it's own power by 31!

Andy, you are a busy guy for sure!! I am sure you will get it done.

Question out of curiosity for a relative newbie to the board, why do you have your posts in bold red? Not an issue for me, just curious if there is a back story.

I started that years ago. I was looking on the board and decided I would use a different color since they give you the choices. I just wanted to be a little different than the rest. This old world would be pretty boring if we all did the exact same thing all the time. Red is my favorite color. So I just started doing it, plus when people would see my truck everyone would say there's RED Andy.
Just got in the habit of posting this way.

I've had people get upset about it to.

Has nothing to do with any type of posting about hollering are anything, I didn't even know about that when I started doing it.

Would you meet me part of the way if I was to come that way say to summit racing are some other place?

Could you send me some pictures?

I went over today and did some welding and tearing a part the doors to get ready for new parts I ordered last night. I was very pleased with what I got done.
My welding is getting better and better but it's still got a way's to go.

I got all the door hardware removed from both door's and even got the door latches blasted and blown off. Ready for primer. Got the glass out but have to reseal the drivers side it came out of it's brace.
Have to look and see if my old 71 window cranks will work. They look better than these do.
