Re: And so it begins 1967 SWB out of the ashes rebuild

I have been told to work from home due to the COVID-19 scare so I couldn’t help but mess with the truck just a little. Got the dash all squared away before I weld it back in the truck. Cut the holes for stereo and A /C controls. Tried the dash pad from TMI. I think its going to look great.

Re: And so it begins 1967 SWB out of the ashes rebuild

Got a bit done this weekend. Removed front cap, cab, engine, disassembled chassis. Cleaned and buffed chassis and got it painted black. I had the frame blasted and primed 15 yrs ago. Man storage is hard on a vehicle.

Bed floor repair complete and primed both top and bottom. Buffed all the front suspension components and got them painted black and silver. Should start reassembly of the chassis soon.

Your build looks to be moving along well.

On your old truck's engine, is that a factory GM serpentine system?

Yes that is I put it on about 12 yrs ago. I have a March performance from the burned truck that I’m using.

I like the pictures of your ring and pinion set-up
Also the angle bracket you used to make a Rigid setup.

Re: And so it begins 1967 SWB out of the ashes rebuild

Started cleaning and painting the engine and March performance serpentine setup. The old clear powder coat was starting to fail so I blasted them then sanded and I kinda like the brushed look but it would be difficult to maintain. Gonna powder coat them with a chrome looking powder.

The general population said the stock panel with the gauges looked best. So my plan has changed some and I still think the original panel and auto meter gauges would look best. I will have a TMI dove grey interior with gunmetal grey carpet and silver paint in the cab. Which one do you think would look best. Also thinking of selling the wooden one if I don’t use it.
Did you take a stock bezel and cut it for the gauges or is that after market?

It’s a stock or reproduction that I cut to get the gauges in.

What size gauges are you running in that cluster? Did it take much cutting or did you just cut out the recessed area in each hole?
