Re: Chinese-owned meat packing giant Smithfield Foods

Russia's total population is at 146 million
USA's total population is at 331 million
India's total population is at 1.3 Billion
China's total population is at 1.4 Billion

By comparison it's easy to surmise China and India should have the largest numbers of cases and fatalities. The numbers reported are all over the place. It depends on who's report you are looking at. Here I found this report.

Re: Chinese-owned meat packing giant Smithfield Foods

And the numbers in the reports change daily. There is nothing being 'officially reported' that can be believed.

That goes for here too. Our county had a jump of somewhere around 147 people overnight. Why? Because two nursing homes were covering up their numbers. I looked at the zip code map and figured it was nursing home related. It took a residents family and staff members going to the news to get it out.

You all can talk numbers all you want. We do at home, but its just that talk. The truth is not in there.

Oh, absolutely. What's scary is it isn't just lies, it's that nobody don't know nothin'. They are just satisfying those who need to hear something.

Isn't it just amazing how China's numbers across the board stay at 83,000+ while ours have skyrocketed to near 800,000 in the same time period?
That's fair and accurate reporting right there.

Re: Chinese-owned meat packing giant Smithfield Foods

I think one reason,(among the other reasons mentioned here before is), the numbers are changing because of modeling.
Another reason is because now they have included “ complications of Coronavirus”.
Modeling numbers have been way too high. The explanation for the lower numbers is mitigation “social distancing”
Manipulating numbers can be a way of promoting an agenda.

Reminds me of when my boss was having a fit over a productivity report that he had stuck me with doing. (He was supposed to do it)

Not too high or they will cut our budget, but not too low or we'll get chewed out.

I listened to him rant and finally told him. I can put down whatever numbers you want. Either shut up and get out of my office or do it yourself.

In the end the numbers were fine just as I had suspected all along. He was just overreacting as usual.

I did think about making another really terrible phony report. Not to turn in. But just to give him and watch him flip out. That would have been amusing.

Can't trust the numbers coming from Asia...agreed, but this food supply chain thing could be a problem. Just last week China bumped their casualty report up by 50%

Chuck Yeager is such a badass. It took a lot of gonads to do the things he did.

This is bothersome. Maybe we should nationalize the meat packing plants on our soil to fill our orders like they did with 3M on their dirt and the n95 masks...

You must have missed this one over in the Keep Up With Richard thread.

So I woke up My dog is laying on the back patio covered in dirt with a rabbit in his mouth. The rabbit's not bloody, just dirty. My neighbor's kids raise blue ribbon rabbits. I instantly knew it was one of theirs. So I took the rabbit away from my dog, rushed inside, and washed all the dirt off it before my neighbors could come home. It was stiff but I heard some animals play dead when they are afraid but I couldn't remember which ones. I took it and placed it back in one of the cages in their back yard then I ZOOMED back home. Not 30 minutes later I hear my neighbors screaming so I go out and ask them what's wrong? They tell me their rabbit died three days ago and they buried it but now it's back in the cage.

Ive done my best to be as self sufficient as I can throughout my life. My father taught me that way.

It worries me that our nation, with some of the smartest people on the planet and a wealth of natural resources would be ok with being so reliant on another country (which can be considered unfriendly) having such a large stake in products that play such a large part in our own autonomy.

Wish I knew where to sign up myself.

Do you all realize how many of our grocery store chains are foreign owned? My mother brought this up as a concern of hers a good ten years ago and it's only gotten worse. All this foolishness is the fault of us allowing the money people to decide our fate while giving that no thought, only concern is finding ways to load more into their pockets.

Yeah it's nearly impossible these days to find anything with the "Made in the USA" label. Clothing, cars, furniture and food all have more reliance upon other countries economy than our own. When did we lose our independence?

There is however a gradual realization of this and people are starting to look for local producers. But when thing get better, it'll be forgotten and we'll go back to dependence upon cheap imports. Our food supply (at least) should be in house.

I hope this does not come off as too political and it may seem off topic about China and the virus but I think it may be spot on for anyone that cares to read it. There is a neat little liberal arts college in Michigan named Hillsdale College. They publish a paper called Imprimis and it is a print version of speeches given on campus by very smart, and sometimes famous people.

October 2019, volume 48, number 10 was titled Why and How the U.S. Should Stop Financing China's Bad Actors. You can read it at the link below:

As far as china goes, they tried to "hide" their pollution during the olympics. Come on. They lied about when it started (and possibly where...) and are definitely lying on the number of cases.

One of 2 things is happening.

1. China is covering up the numbers to look good.

2. This was started on purpose, they sacrificed one of their cities, while having previously vaccinated the rest of their population the prior flu season without their knowledge. Stretch, but is it really?

I've said from the beginning...this was no "accident"
A virus that has spread worldwide yet barely affected the nearby cities of Bejing and Shanghai which just happen to be the
political and economic centers of the country....
In the words of Clint Eastwood in the movie The Outlaw Josey Wales "don't piss down my back and tell me it's raining"

I am so encouraged to be in like minded company. I was telling my wife just the other day this whole thing sure didn't add up by a long shot with me. Not to mention you can bet everything coming out of China and Russia is coated in half truths and downright lies.

I've felt it was intentional for weeks now and was purposefully kept quiet so it could be distributed globally. But, as I told my wife as well, nothing real will be done because a lot of money will get slipped to folks to make sure there is little to no investigation or no outcome from one.

Re: Chinese-owned meat packing giant Smithfield Foods

It's true that our corporations and our own government sold us out when it comes to foreign manufacturing, but they couldn't have done it if "We The People" hadn't bought in so easily and completely.

I have not researched it lately, but at one time the Chinese were buying up the desirable property along the east coast.

And to think, only three months ago we were worried about who owned all the motels and convenience stores.

The ability to speak several languages is an asset, but the ability to keep your mouth shut in any language is priceless.
