The 16" wheels must have been pirated from an old travel trailer at some point, GM issue would have been 15". But, I'm sure some solid wheels and full wheelcovers are in it's immediate future.

Re: One owner 68 Half Ton 50th anniversary Time Capsule

Thanks everyone. Got lucky when my uncle sent me an offer up post of this truck for sale. The motor and trans are out but everything is in the bed. The original owner was an old school race car driver. He had plans to make it a short bed and put a built motor in it. Glad that never happened. I plan to rebuilt the motor, AC, and maybe put a 700r4 or rebuilt the original 400. I can’t decide but I’m going to take my time. The inside of the bed I very nice and the wood looks great with the original paint still on the wood.

I actually kind of like the look of the 16” rims and dog fish caps. May keep it like that.

I can’t believe how nice the original paint and body are. On small little dent that should pop out pretty easy.

Likely keep the original stance and put a slightly larger tire and level the rear end to sit the same height as the front.

Re: One owner 68 Half Ton 50th anniversary Time Capsule

If you want to keep the original transmission, versus putting in an overdrive version, just consider what you're going to do with the truck. I had a '68 Skylark that I put a 700 (4R) trans in because I was using it as a commuter car. I'd've never done that if I only drove it around town, where I'd not need the overdrive. Just a suggestion.

Looking at some of the pictures there how do they call them survivors? Some are total ground up restoration.

Their interpretation of survivor is totally different than mine

Never, cut short beds aren’t my thing. I like them the way they came from the factory long or short.

They don't paint them! They use great low mileage originals or maybe something that was painted 20 years ago.

New frame (their specialty) drivetrain and interiors. No a cheap build.

Guess I'm a purist when the word survivor is used .

Re: One owner 68 Half Ton 50th anniversary Time Capsule

There is & will always be varying degrees of interpretation regarding the definition of a 'survivor' vehicle that's brought back to life.

This truck has already got different wheels/caps & the bed cover. Yes, they can be removed/swapped for what originally was spec'd but like the Roadster Shops series of builds, it could go in a different direction as well. The basic truck is still there.

My point is, don't worry about the 'survivor' definition. It is a cool survivor w/the original basics still in place.
When you buy a vehicle, tweak it to enjoy it how YOU want.

@murguia . . ...... I'm looking forward to updates on this one. Very cool find!

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.
It's like a highly skilled Morrocan sword fighter with a Damascus Steel Scimitar.....

Cubic inches is like Indiana Jones with a cheap pistol.

Yes his truck is a survivor minor bolt on stuff wouldnt change that . My Hawk and Avanti I went to a dual master as they were safety upgrades also put on wider rims as the originals were only 5 inch . My anniversary is also a survivor as it's original paint motor and drivetrain .

Didnt mean to derail the thread
