Thanks Mike... Ya, I can see the light at the end of the tunnel lol. I'm waiting for the fuel filter/fuel pump and fittings to show up so I can Finish the fuel system. This weekend I plan on having all of the start system, charging system fans and fuel pumps wired up and I should be able to start it.

Today I stopped by a local off-road shop to pick up fittings and wire loom and found a master cylinder for my clutch. It's made by Jamar and has a 3/4" bore with a nice size reservoir. I also liked the fact it's machined black and isn't all blingy lol. They also offer a rebuild kit for it.

Re: Started my first frame off - 72 SWB LS1, 6-spd manual

Thanks Dean!

Almost ready to put gas in it.. I am really happy how well my wiring came out for the ECM and start/charging system. I found some really nice heat shrink with numbers on it at Fry's electronics. I was able to number each wire and make a schematic (key) for my wiring.

Found my molded radiator hoses in the Napa catalog. They are one of the few places that can still find parts by measurements instead of application.

I'm interested in the clutch master you got. I'm ancious to see it mounted as I'm on the lookout for a master for my build. I also like the non blingy part.

I don't plan on mounting until I figure out which brake master cylinder I'm going with. Which will be my next task.

I Just got it running a couple of hours ago! My kids and wife are laughing at me because of my excitement lol.. It's been 4 long years, especially after purchasing an engine that I never heard run with a 1 year warranty that expired 3 years ago. It started right up and ran perfect!

My daughter just made me a YouTube account so that I could upload my video. I'm so behind on all this technology that she had to set up the whole thing for me, I don't know what I'm gonna do when she goes to college haha. Here's the link: http://youtu.be/R899YQ1OcjU

Sounds good Mark! Congrats on a huge milestone. Unfortunately there wasn't any video only sound when I clicked the link. Keep up the good work.

Sounds great Mark, is that the stock cam or did you change it? I know your running open headers but it sounds lumpy

Thanks Mike. Just click on the link and let me know if you're still not able to see the video so I can have my daughter fix it lol. I plan on using the same mufflers you installed on your truck. After running it for a while last night, the water pump started leaking through the weep hole. Luckily it's an easy fix and probably something I should have changed already.

Thanks Keith I'm not sure if the cam has been changed or not. You're right though, it definitely sounds lumpy.. I know when I purchased the complete drive train it had headers, B&M shifter, and a performance clutch. I wouldn't be surprised if the prior owner installed one. Either way I can't wait to roast the rear tires

Yes, the magnaflows do sound good and are affordable..

I pulled my water pump off last night and figured this would be a good time to clean up and paint all of my pulleys.

Re: Started my first frame off - 72 SWB LS1, 6-spd manual

Mark,
I just read through your entire build thread. Excellent work and good job! It's giving me inspiration for my new build project. I recently bought an original '71 SWB out of Arizona for my next project. It's a good starting point for me. I am planning to do an extensive build such as yours. I am looking to install an LS engine, but with automatic. I decided to use Scotts Hot Rod for my chassis. After looking into everything I wanted to do with the suspension, I decided to buy a custom built chassis. It should be here by the end of January. Very exciting. Once again, great work and I look forward to following the rest of your build.
