Post Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Shawn ;

Why does your truck have two oil pressure gauges ? .

I got my spare tire mounted to my freshly powder coated stock wheel and installed one of the two hub caps I had coated , they're badly dented but better than none IO .

Pix to follow soon .

I'm looking for someone / someplace that can paint in the black and blue on my hubcaps , L.A. area , I want them to look nice .

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

I fabricated a trailer hitch that tucks underneath the frame and comes out behind the license plate. I still need to fabricate the hinge for the plate. I was able to get it in my powder coat oven and I made it all out of scrap steel that had been lying around my shop. Total investment $0

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Check out late 60's to early 70's buick/chevelle etc, they had the fuel filler behind the plate and all you have to do is unbolt it and put it on yours. This is what I used and it works great!Oh yeah it's spring loaded as well.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Replace my dual 14" electric fans and shroud with dual 16" electric fans and shroud trying to solve an over heating problem when it's 110* outside, however, now it's only in the 80's and I don't know if I have solved the problem.

Took my truck to the upholstery shop today, it will look something like the picture. Should be done in a week. I am suffering from separation anxiety, lol! I'm lucky I will be on vacation while it's in the shop otherwise I wouldn't be able to cope.

Here you go. I got the radiator and fans from Entropy Radiator. The first picture is with the 14" fans, the second is with the 16" fans. The 16" fans are supposed to draw 6600 cfm. They hang over the sides of the radiator a bit but Tony at Entropy built a filler piece to fill the area where the fans hang over, so the fans only draw air through the radiator core. You can see when you compare the first picture with the second how much more radiator core is covered by the larger fans.
When I told Tony about the over heating problem he suggested the larger fans and agreed to refund the price of the new fans when I returned the smaller fan package. That was great and, I think, the right way for Tony to treat his customer. Thank you Tony!

Post Re : Running Hot

How hot is it running ? .

Overheating means spewing coolant , not running @ 200° F .

How many rows in the radiator core ? .

Base and full advance timing ? .

What engine size ? .

Those fans look very nice indeed , how about sharing the contact info and location of this Entropy Radiator Shop , there are very few good ones left .

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Bought a 4x6 stall mat for the bed. Now maybe the dogs will ride back there without sliding around on the hard plastic bedliner. And it'll keep the chain saws etc from sliding around so much.

Hey Nate...ya' geezer. This is Randy, you met me at Bob'b Big Boy in Downey with the C10 club guys, red '69 no wood in the bed. Ring any bells?

Anyway, not spewing any coolant, running 210* - 215* on freeway@70 - 80 mph. Running 220*+ in traffic on 100*+ day.

2 row 1.25" tube radiator core, aluminium radiator. 20lb cap.

Timing is 10* base, 36* total (vacuum can unplugged), all in at 2500 rpm.

ZZ502

Here's the link for Entropy Radiator: http://www.entropyrad.com/. Tony is in Chicago.

I don't know what the seats came out of, they were in a '57 sedan delivery I saw at the Route 66 event in San Bernardino. Not my seats, I used the picture to give my guy an idea of what I wanted. I hope mine will look as good. You guys will be getting pictures next weekend when my interior is done.

Hey Randy, let me ask, what temperture thermostat are you running?
160 deg, 180 deg, when were your fans turning on? What core is your radiator? Sorry for asking incase you mentioned it and I missed it. And lastly, are you running a 50/50 mix or just water?

Vince, I have a 180* thermostat. Fans come on a bit early, one around 160* the other comes on around 175*. Radiator is aluminium with a 2 row core and 1.25" tubes. Coolant is about 70/30 (water/anti-freeze, we live in So. Cal.).
