Re: '67 Short Step #2

I never really liked the monochrome trim on the grill, so I stripped them to bare steel and then polished and clear coated them. Now I'm going to lower the truck another two inches.

the truck looks great the base looked great too once the surface rust was gone
nice to see you kept the 6 in a row
the lady that done the pinstriping got some great skills there some pinstripe artists here in the netherlands but the work i seen of them is a little uneven from left to right
hats off for youre own skills , i used to work as a prep person for a truckpaintshop and allthough i can handle a paintgun i never developed those metalfabricating skills

Yeah, I'm looking for a set of drop spindles to convert to disks.

Re: '67 Short Step #2

Well it only took a year but I finally sanded and polished the truck. Brad polished while I welded and bodyworked on his 68.

Re: '67 Short Step #2

Dang! I just read the whole thread, Kyle. What a great job you have done on the truck, and how cool of you to document every step along the way to share with us all. I am just getting started on a '67 stepper with a pal, and we have been inspired by your work. I have a hard time thinking of what I would have done differently!

Now, if I could do metal fab like you and Don, and spray that killer orange he shot, then stich up a nice interior and lay down some classy bedwood . . . well, I'd have a heck of a truck too!

Off to the shop!

Re: '67 Short Step #2

I can't get over your truck. It's clean, sharp, new with a spin of old school. The pinstriping, the six...love it all.

Can't wait to see and hear more of it, great work man.

Yes, I want to do 2" blocks in the back and convert it to disks with drop spindles.

Looks great Kyle! I love how the paint turned out, very professional looking. Must make you feel really good to get complements when you take her out!

Thanks! The roof was his last part, I think he was getting sick of it. All in all a pretty fair trade though.

Buffing is the worst. I hate doing it. Painting is addicting. Even though I have been doing this for so long (20 years) and it has unfortunately become a job, I still really enjoy doing it.

Took the truck to the midwest all truck nationals a couple weeks ago. Rolled over 2000 miles on the way there and won the burnout contest.
