That's not new Orrie. My Dad passed away in 1990 but he was a mason all his life and every block wall he ever built "on the side" - meaning weekends, had beer cans in the block cells. Of course those old Coors, Hamm's and Burgermeister cans had the old triangle shaped opening in the lids. That was before the pop top.

P.S. Thanks for writing "masonry" blocks. So many people say cinder block and NO ONE uses "cinder" block anymore or really ever in the West. Cinder block was made in part from industrial waste.

Oh, I had it hammered into me in school. Also the difference between cement and concrete.

Then you are definitely doing it right!!!

While driving any of the things I've built I have a smile plastered on my face unlike anything the best of the new cars have ever offered! Enjoy it and as my recently adopted moto says:

"Drive the **** outta it!"

BTW, I've loved this build the whole way and refer to it often for inspiration.

Re: Project "49 No Buck$"

New addition to the truck! I know this goes against the whole "low buck" thing but I couldn't turn them down! My friend Roger builds custom shocks (did Aldans for close to 20 yrs.) and makes them for So Cal, Pete &Jakes, etc. at his company ROMIC SHOCKS and commented he needed to make some for the truck. I told him I wasn't going to go that crazy on that part if the truck and he proceeded to tell me to shut up, he was making a set! How can you argue with that? I got the front ones on a couple days ago and WOW! I had no idea they could make that much of a difference! Simply amazing! He designed them for the weight and what I told him I wanted and was a little blown away! I'll get the back ones in another week and was told it gets even better! Thanks again Roger!

Re: Project "49 No Buck$"

I bet he would be the guy to talk to about shocks for the back of my crew cab. If I could get it to ride empty like it does with stuff in the bed I would be right on the money.

Re: Project "49 No Buck$"

Good idea with the new shocks.
You just finished a long trip so you have some miles to coompair the new with the old.
Eight or so ears ago I was introduced to the Bilstine shock guy Steve Duck and he sold me on there product for the Mll front suspension. I had driven the truck with the local parts guy shocks and they had been on the road for 6 or 7 years so it was a no brainer to replace them.
YOU are right WHAT a difference good shocks make on a modified suspension
I now have a set of Bilstines on all three of my trucks and they ride great.
Wait until you have all 4 on your truck, you will really enjoy driving your truck!

Re: Project "49 No Buck$"

agh rat rod I hear you. not to spark up a whole debate over it, your truck is
not a rat rod. People take creativity and ingenuity as a rat rod, or a little patina or flat black paint. maybe someday they will get it. I Like the shock idea. Maybe I'll get some.

I'm still giggling from when you texted me yesterday and told me you won the Rat Rod award. That truck isn't even remotely close to being a Rat Rod. Some guys just don't get it.

Then you know how barren it is and why "too loud" was a strange charge.

Stop in the bank downtown Baker City and see the worlds largest gold nugget, http://blog.oregonlive.com/terryrich...gold_nugg.html

and look to your left just east of LaGrande and see the valley where they filmed "Paint your Wagon" when I lived there.

Stay at the Grand Hotel and visit the ghosts. Is the Blue and White cafe still open? We used to stop there in the early 80's. My GGF and GF built 4 houses in the historic district, on Washington Street if I remember right. Oregon Trail Museum is great too. Drive safely.

I guess you're going to have to weld some rebar, coffee cans, pitchforks and various other rusty non-functional items on her now!

Don't forget that you have to act like A-holes at the car shows, make fun of everybody who isn't as "cool" as you are, and call everyone who has a nicely-built vehicle a "gold chainer".

And then they wonder why nobody stops to help them when their crap box car breaks down on the side of the road.

Yo Jackson... The inner fender stuff is all there as far as I know. It didnt have the radiator part of the core support, so I just used what I had to work with. Also, PM me again cuz I needed to empty my message box!
