Re: 1970 SWB : Porterbuilt to the Extreme "Double E"

Well I spent the weekend getting the air ride management installed. This is just a temporary setup to be able to drive it a few times this year before ripping it back apart this winter. It also lets me get everything mocked up so it will be easier to make sheetmetal panels when it is all said and done.

After getting it all hooked up I turned the key on and everything worked as it should, needless to say I had a smile on my face.

By the way in case anyone is wondering about the custom gauge mounts my little secret is some black zip ties.

Thanks. I can't wait to actually feel comfortable enough to drive it on the road. I still have a lot of little things like greasing fittings, a windshield, exhaust, and light, you know the minor things

Jim, I took pictures the other day but they are on my camera and not my phone so I didn't load them yet. If you need them I will. I will try to remember to get your part numbers tonight. The header fits really well I know that.

Re: 1970 SWB : Porterbuilt to the Extreme "Double E"

Bad news. My tranny fluid looks like a pink milkshake after turning it on two times. It appears my radiator cooler tank is leaking and allowing it to circulate antifreeze into the new tranny. It is a new tranny so my transmission guy said it should be ok if I get it flushed thoroughly and change it a couple times after I drive it. How come things just don't work out the way you want them to a lot of times? What a bummer.

Damn that sux! At least you can get it fixed. Sorry to hear about your misfortune.
It always seems to come at the wrong time.

Jim. I looked at the header flanges. Both are stamped 69010. The one in the picture is the passenger side

Jim those would appear to sit higher. This is very puzzling. I have about an 1-1/2 to 2" between my header flange and the firewall where it dumps. Sounds like you may need to replace them with the Camaro version if that is what they insist. It looks like my markings are the exact same as yours, which makes no sense.

Re: 1970 SWB : Porterbuilt to the Extreme "Double E"

Congrats on the drive Mike and sorry about the milky trans .

I have been watching and waiting for the outcome of this hedder situation, mostly because I have the 69010 and I like your passenger hedder much much better. The 69010 pass hedder sweeps up high and ends up real close to the floor to firewall pinch weld. I had to install my O2 bung at about 2 o' clock pointing at the trans to clear. This might cause problems for anyone with a PB body drop. Every pass hedder I have seen (a couple in person and prob 6 others on here) are just like this, same as Jim's

I wonder if hedman would sell hedders as singles.. I want a Camaro pass side and a 69010 driver side

This is very weird. The only thing I can think of is that they changed something in the 5 month timespan that yours were made and mine. Your date code is 12-13 and mine is 05-14. Sounds stupid but could happen. It is just odd the part number is the exact same 69010 W2.

The other thing is I ordered mine from summit. But the box they came it was directly from Hedman and stated on the label it was for 67-72 trucks. Maybe I was just the lucky one they messed the order up on then.

Re: 1970 SWB : Porterbuilt to the Extreme "Double E"

Mike , I actually think despite the markings you have a camaro pass header...I found a set of the camaro headers on ebay that should be here any day and we will compare then.....it is weird!! and I may make it weirder because i really like my drivers better than the camaro drivers (at least from the pics) and I may split the set....Got new set for $150 coated and new so it's not biting the budget 2 much............jim

Unfortunately I think it is going to rain this weekend which may prevent the truck from going out in public for the first time. Everyone wish that crap away.
