That's a nice set-up. I think the rod ends on the control arms might make for a harsh ride though, but it should handle really well.

What is the problem with the stock steering, what is binding up, only allowing you to do a 1.5 inch crossmember drop on stock stuff?

Yep. After about a 1.5" notch, you get very close to the tie-rods hitting the lower a-arm mounting hardware & clearance issues trying to clear the upper a-arm w/the steering shaft. More than a 1.5" drop w/add even more difficulty.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.

With tubular arms, would a 1.5 inch crossmember drop be ok?

crossmember

How much should I be looking to pay for a crossmember? Also is it hard to take out?

A Pull it yourself junkyard is like 10 minutes from where I am right now. Just wondering how much I should be looking to pay, and how hard is to get out. Also how heavy is a crossmember?

A stock one? They charge me $75 for the ones I have gotten. This is JUST the crossmember though.

Err can this get any longer? How about writing a book! I'm scared to ask a question without spending hours reading to see if it's been asked!

Ok Would it be true to say with a crossmember drop it wouldn't effect ground clearance under the arms? your just bringing the frame closer to the ground right?

I think it depends on your overall tire size Chris~GS. With the large diameter wheel tire combo I have, I needed to do a Z.

I know Slammed67 did a crossmember drop for XXL & Ken drove his truck back home. I believe thats how he managed to knock that small hole in his oil pan.

My xmember was made by Captkaos using a stock one and sectioning it. slammed67 did the installation. And, yes, it's done, and had lots of miles on it as a daily driver until I bought the Tahoe (so I could get more work done on the truck without having to rely on it or my wife for transportation).

Doing Brake lines and fuel lines tonight. Didn't know stainless could be so much! Get my shocks today. It is all starting to come together!
