Re: 1970 SWB : Porterbuilt to the Extreme "Double E"
I hope to be able to drive it legally on the road in about two weeks. I have to get my tranny flushed because my overflow tank leaked into it. Im supposed to have my exhaust ran this week. Then all I need is some tail lights and I can drive it.

Thanks Keith. One day soon. You'll be closer to finished when yours is drivable. Keep up the good work with the body and paint.

Dropped the truck off at the exhaust shop today. Should have an exhaust by tomorrow.

Sweet! Take pics of it when it's done, if you don't mind. I'd like to see how it was routed.

Re: 1970 SWB : Porterbuilt to the Extreme "Double E"
The exhaust was pretty much done yesterday. It looks really good and symetrical. It sounds pretty mean also. I will post a video later today or tomorrow when I get it home. He had to weld the mufflers on after I checked it out. Sorry for the crappy pictures.

Re: 1970 SWB : Porterbuilt to the Extreme "Double E"
The truck looks killer from underneath it's a shame it is all hidden from the world, someone needs to invent transparent aluminum (Star Trek reference) with pigment switching so we can have see through bodies with the flick of a switch.

Re: 1970 SWB : Porterbuilt to the Extreme "Double E"
I got the truck back from the exhaust shop. It looks very good. Once I get the truck tuned up it should sound even better. It is burning some raw fuel and I think it is causing it to miss. Here are a couple more pictures.
Here is a link to the truck running. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rcRW...ature=youtu.be

Thanks. It is always nice to reassurance.
Thanks mike. Now I just need your shell to put on my frame and drivetrain lol. Quote:
Thanks Nate. I'd say far from the home stretch but much closer for sure. I should be able to drive it down the road next week.

Re: 1970 SWB : Porterbuilt to the Extreme "Double E"
I just flushed the tranny tonight. Got rid of the pink milkshake that was my tranny fluid. Thanks to a buddy that had a tranny flusher, saved me a $100.
Next steps: Wire up tail lights Adjust timing Adjust carb (it is burning so rich it's ridiculous) Shim starter Maybe throw a seatbelt in Maybe put a hood on (I don't know if I want to do this before I mount my other fenders though)

Re: 1970 SWB : Porterbuilt to the Extreme "Double E"
We'll yet another setback. I opened the garage door last night to see transmission fluid all over the floor. It was actually leaking out of the driveshaft yoke weep hole. I'm assuming the internal Oring was somehow compromised during the flushing. Therefore I had to step away due to being a little ticked off. Again one step forward two steps back.

You got bucked off the horse, we have all been there Mike, the important thing is that you get right back on without a second thought.

Thanks. I know I need to. It also doesn't help the kids started back to school which consumes time also. I may get to drive it before winter but it doesn't look good

I know how you feel I got mine all put back together and driving and the dipstick oring decides to start leaking. Very annoying.
