Thanks for the link! Looks like they have some nice stuff (never noticed them at Charlotte). I doubt they'll make it this far south, but I'll have to keep my eye out for them next time I go to Carlisle.

Looks good Mike! Keep going you are making it look too easy in the pix.

I have a buddy whose parents live about 200 yards from Tabco in Chesterland, Ohio. So I can avoid shipping costs if he picks some stuff up for me.

I haven't needed him to yet - but it is looking like I may in the future...

Well Mike your work looks great and you've flown past me on my project.
I'm actually glad though because I have someone else to show me the way.
This rocker gap you describe is exactly where I left off.
I'm begining to think the new floor is not correct.
The rocker sits on the floor and the door hits the rocker with no room for adjustment.
I almost think I will need to cut the floor and lower the part under the rocker.
I'm interested to see how you solve this problem.

Re: 68 K-10 SWB build thread - project Money Pit...pics galore!

Option one was to cut the kickpanel, unbolt the Apillar and spread the door gap open (jack on floor and 2x4 to roof?) about a 1/4"... Before I do that I decided to bend the rocker open a little and cram the door as high as it could go. I think i'll modify the door before I adjust the floor.

SOme guys will grind the bottom or top of the doors and reweld (TIG)the seam to make the gap work...

Re: 68 K-10 SWB build thread - project Money Pit...pics galore!

I just ordered my polished SS strips and bolts from Mar-K (vendor)...

Thanks for 15% off Mar-K and $8.95 shipping!

I need more gas (against what my wife says!) so that I can continue on the cab...

Re: 68 K-10 SWB build thread - project Money Pit...pics galore!

Just got back from a parts run this evening... This came up on craigslist and I couldn't let it go...

Very straight gate with only some scrapes from original paint, has one small dent on inside near bottom... It does have a funny rust spot that will need fixed... kinda off right below the handle on the outside and inside... I think it was a Blazer due to the top steel piece...

Now I have to figure out which one to keep and which one to sell....

Mike, I really think that the tight gap is caused by the placement of the lower A pillar patch. If the lower portion of the patch were to be moved towards the front of the truck, it would give you more room to lower the rocker...just a thought

Nice find on the tailgate

My guess is yes, but haven't seen any closeups...Sooooo, is the bed wood NOS or not. How much more was the polished over unpolished SS?

I like the color of the gate

Re: 68 K-10 SWB build thread - project Money Pit...pics galore!

I'm waiting for the polished SS strips to arrive from Mar-K (anyday now) and then decide to keep the NOS wood or go with Oak/Walnut and SS.

I took advantage of the 15% off they offered and went for the polished, also picked up the bolts and two heat shields.. only $272 shipped I think.

Wow...that's a nice gate....Wish I could find one that clean...My body guy just told me it's gonna cost about $350.00 in labor to save mine....AARGH

One more thing....what is this circled item in the pic....Is it an accessory for your truck of some sort...Cuz, I've never seen one before??....

Re: 68 K-10 SWB build thread - project Money Pit...pics galore!

those are used for leveling our sandy beaches in PA!

Do you see the snow blower beside it? Making a big slushy mess on the floor?

This guy didn't even know how long he had the gate in his garage, or where it came from.... If it wasn't for the handle area this gate could be "scuffed and painted" that's how nice it looks! An Arizona guy like you should go out looking for some "prime" southwestern metal gates!

It's too cold in my garage (stays about 38-42 during the winter) and i'm not that motivated to do much on chilly days.... so I doubt that I will beat you to completion...

I'm also getting ready to start my MBA so my free time is getting shorter...

my wife says the same thing, except she never sounds as friendly! It was a little more than I expected (famous last words) but has been fun for the most part. I just wish i had a truck to drive!

Thanks..

Got a few parts from some board members... thanks guys.

Powder coated non-clutch fan and a new steering stabilizer. Don't know if I want to paint it white and use the red boot so that it will look like my Ranchos or just run it black as is.
