Hey Scott, it's doing good now, I drove it around about 150 miles last weekend. I'll get some pics of it this coming weekend, I've had a busy work schedule here lately. Have you fired up the new engine yet??

That's great to hear. I'm looking forward to see how your truck looks on the inside all finished up now. I'm ready to fire it up, I asked Vic to come over to assist and help me get it running to assure that the break in goes smooth. I just need a few hours of daylight when I get off work. I might just have to do it this weekend.

Re: Jason's 70 Big Block SWB Project

Since I got to drive my truck some this fall, I figured I better catch up on some other things that need attention. I took care of some outdoor items to try to get ready for winter. One thing that needed some upkeep was my welding truck, I changed oil, both fuel filters, put front and rear brake pads on, and installed a 2" lift on it. Today I went and got six new tires put on, here's a couple of pictures of it with the lift and the new tires. It has kind of taken a back burner for the last couple years because the focus has been on the C/10 I still have a few little items that I want to do to the old truck this winter.

Re: Jason's 70 Big Block SWB Project

I haven't had much time on the forum for a while. Just trying to catch up on a lot of your guys builds today. So far on mine I've driven it some this summer. I have had a few bugs to work out, one thing I did was put a Performance Online quick ratio steering box on. The bad news was last Friday my wife and I decided to take the old truck on a little trip, we made it about 10 miles down the interstate and the good ole 700R4 decided to let me down with a little over 500 miles on it. BUMMER!! So that's where I'm at now

No warranty, even though it had so few miles it was still about 4 years old. It took me a while on the build!!

Re: Jason's 70 Big Block SWB Project

At least 700R4 are a dime a dozen and cheap so it's no great loss, I mean yeah it still sucks that it died after 500 miles but even new things break sometimes, buy another one and don't think twice about it and enjoy it.

No more 700R4's for me in this truck. This one was from Monster Transmission and was supposed to handle some horsepower. I think I am going to put a TH400 from TCI or Hughes in it. What sucks is that it has rained here for 40 plus days and now that the weather is beautiful, I can't cruise around. Like my buddy says, " That's part of Hot Rodding"

Re: Jason's 70 Big Block SWB Project

I would call up monster transmission and ask them if they are interested in having the transmission back so they can investigate the cause of the failure on one of their builds at 500 miles and see if they will cut you a deal on another one for your trouble.

Hey Mike, I hope to have it swapped out here in a couple weeks

That would be nice, but probably a waste of time. A buddy of mine put one from monster transmission in his 55 Chevy with a 496 stroker, it only lasted a few weeks of occasional tire smoking. He has a 4L80 in it now.

700R4 is a nice trans for less than 400hp, especially less torque like a small block..a good cruiser not abuser..

Re: Jason's 70 Big Block SWB Project

Hey guys, I haven't been on here for a while. With work 7 days a week this fall and house projects I've been a busy man!!! I should have a couple weeks off work so I'm going to tinker on the old truck some. Still haven't got a transmission in it yet, but my wife said that would be my Christmas present from her. I think tomorrow I'm going to drop the transmission out and possibly pull the engine back out, as bad as I hate to. If you guys remember back when I had all the fuel pump problems I'm wondering now if the cam lobe was the issue. I had some fine metal particles in the oil every time I've changed it and the oil pressure is not up to par when it warms up at idle. So just to give it a once over my buddy the built it is going to take a look internal. I'll post up some pics as the week goes. It seems like it's always something!!!

Re: Jason's 70 Big Block SWB Project

Well I just came in for lunch, kinda got a late start today. I had to run down to my buddy's shop and borrow his engine stand this morning. As of now the radiator is out, fluids drained, all the electrical goodies are unhooked, and carb is off. After lunch I'll start pulling torque converter bolts and transmission bolts
