Re: Got some new wheels: Boss 338's in 20x10 and 20x8.5

Keith,
Thanks for your help on this. I spoke with a guy that distributes the American Eagle stuff today out of Ohio. He was pretty much a tool and advised me to put a spacer on it and the others are going to be available in a month or so. So bottom line, S.O.L.
The cap is not an issue right now, the actual rotor flange bottoms out where the center hooks in. I am off about 1/2 in. I have a set of spacers, but was trying to avoid it.
I read this entire post and looked for part numbers. Sorry if I missed it. If you come across the mfg or where you bought them, that would be a big help as well. I got these new 1 in rotors from a local CarQuest from a guy that actuallly knows cars/trucks w/out having to have the VIN to look up a part.

Just adding the 1" rotors won't work. (My SSBC rotors or any other 1" rotors)
You have to change spindles and calipers.
No way around it.
If your wheels are about 1/2" from seating on the rotor flange,... you have the 1.25" rotors.

If you plan to lower it, just purchase the drop spindles for 1" rotors.
I recommend Belltech. (they make both versions)
Then,... just swap your calipers for some 1" calipers from your local parts store.

I got my 1" rotors from NAPA... Of course that is NAPA in Canada, so it may be different in the US..

Yeah its a "Cool Ride" front and rear full kit from Ride Tech ( ART ) for the 62 or 63 > 72 2wd trucks and blazers
It is a bolt on suspension that includes lots of grinding stock rivets off of the old components... Not too big of a deal as I have been grinding just as many bolts off the frame as rivets.. I can't wait to try it out... Check out ride tech's website as they have more detailed pics and prices..

Yes they do... check out this write-up on them..

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=344982

ALso, yo may be able to do a trailing arm suspension like the kit I have on your square if you want to get rid of the leaf springs..

CCP makes a trailing arm kit for squares now I see, check them out too..

Thanks, I'll have to go check it out. Anymore info on the wheels, oh, what happened to the 20x8.5 wheel with 5 on 5 bolt pattern they don't list it anymore.

That's a damn good question. Maybe it's been temporarily removed while they re-tool. Looks like someone's gonna have to make another call. I'm gonna if I waited all these months just for them to pull the plug on the size I need.

Re: Got some new wheels: Boss 338's in 20x10 and 20x8.5

Question: I've got these wheels (18x8) for my 78 Blazer that already has drop spindles for 1.25" rotors. Would best bet be to have my rotors machined? I don't mind having it done since I have friends who run a machine shop. I just want to know if that is just as good an option (& def. cheaper) than having to purchase new spindles, rotors, etc.

Even with machining the diameter of the hub,... the length of the hub on the 1.25" rotors is still too long.
Look at the pics I posted, showing the difference in the two rotors.
The 1" rotors just barely work, and then you still have to clip the tabs on the center caps to clear the rotor dust cap.
Everyone needs to wait on purchasing these wheels until the new wheel design comes out,... or plan on swapping to 1" rotors.

well, I didnt wont to wait for god knows how long for a set of wheels, That may or may not be revised. so I spent $50 and had my 1.25 rotors machined down, I did have to flatten the grease cap and cut the tabs of the chrome cap. It can be done. $588 for wheels, $50 machine work, having cool wheels on my truck today! priceless

No mods to my spindles are necessary? I don't want to spend a ton o' cash & have to un-do what I've already done! BTW, thanks, in advance, for you guys' help! Very new to this forum & there's tons of info here.

Nevermind, mrhino, I just saw your older post stating that you had to take a little length off the spindle. I'm assuming that you re drilled the hole for the cotter pin? Approx. how much did you remove of the top?

Is $588.00 for all four wheels?

What are your wheels, 18s or 20s?
What about tire size?

Call 'em and ask. That's what any of us would have to do. I haven't had time yet.

Just so you guys know, the 18x9.5's have a deeper lip than the 20x10's. My cousin bought a set for his S10 and we compared them. Just some food for thought for the guys that are looking for that real deep wheel in the rear.
