It works great on old paint and rust, I do a CLR scrub first to get all the loose rust and oxidized paint off. I wipe it down and let it soak in then lightly buff it with a dry cloth before it dries to soak up the extra and give it a satin finish. Doesn't work well on new paint, it started looking milky on the fender and hood that I fake patina'd. Guess it needs old paint to soak into.

Thanks! From what I remember at the time the oil pan, flywheel, bellhousing, clutch/trans situation made it too much to bother with since I wanted a manual trans. I'm still undecided, I've thought about just finding a running small block and four speed to throw in it to get it on the road easily. Or a stock/cammed aluminum block 5.3 with a AR5 trans using Fabbot's adapter. Also thought about a 250 inline 6 with an AR5, and a single turbo and Holley Sniper efi. Who knows

Re: Project Goldilocks, '66 C10 SWB BBW Build

No real progress made, but I did loosely assemble most of the sheetmetal. Now I can measure for wheel size/offset and axle width.

I got the '69 finished up and sold it after putting a couple thousand miles on it. After getting it running I took it back over to let the previous owner see it like we'd promised. He was excited to see it again, and had recently found a pic of him and his brother with the truck on the day their dad brought it home from the dealership.

Agreed 100%. Especially true when it's CLEAN sheet-metal.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.
It's like a highly skilled Morrocan sword fighter with a Damascus Steel Scimitar.....

Cubic inches is like Indiana Jones with a cheap pistol.

I sold it in Feb '21, it has a new home in Tennessee on a Roadster Shop chassis. Just had too many irons in the fire and my friend Jay (jhrusk on here) had a friend that was looking for a mild patina Saddle short/fleet, so a deal was made. Hopefully the new owner will update the thread as they make progress.

I've since bought another '66 short/fleet that didn't need much work to get back on the road, that build thread is here-

Sweet project! luckily the 4200's have been getting some attention now so there are more builds out there with them swapped in. I would love to do a 55 150 2dr sedan with 4200,colorado 5spd and awd. Something near stock look outside but more modern comfortable interior,ac,cruise etc
