Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Well decided to run down the electrical problems. With all the previous posts on electrical it was easy to find the biggest problem. On the backside of the fuse block I found the power wire into the block corroded and completely apart. That was a easy fix. It was not long I had to unwrap the wires under the dash. There I found wires cut and spliced where they didn't do any good. Two days into the electrical and I think I can wrap it up. Finally got turn sigs, tail lights and all.

oh yea very time consuming and not fun. However I do get a chuckle when I find things that make no sense. But thanks to everyone that posts on here it was an easy job.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Started metal work on my hood. Would like to buy the replacement pieces but unfortunately my finances won't allow it so I am making the pieces I need and doing the best I can. It's a slow process but I will get there eventually.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Washed, polished, and hung out at the Woodland Hills, CA car show hang out....Jay Leno came by with an amazing "Tank" car.....had a 12 cylinder Patton tank engine diesel in it....very cool. Came home and took out an intake manifold bolt that had been leaking some oil and re-sealed the bolt and is currently setting over night....hope that seals that nasty oil leaker....just enough oil to smell when you are cruising....don't you hate that? Now she's resting nicely under the cover

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Got a big pile of parts back from the blaster tonight:

I didn't want to unwrap them all but had to peek:

My buddy did an incredible job!

He did all 4 control arms, front coils, front backing plates and crossmember.

Total cost: FREE!

Tomorrow night is a marathon painting session so they don't flash rust.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Depending on your humidity in your region, get some coating on them quickly. In the gulf south, you can sit down and actually watch them start to rust.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

They are wrapped and it should slow it down enough until tomorrow night.

Makes me wish I would have spent $90K on the blasting setup his company has instead of a house! LOL!

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

The suspension parts are going to be silver and hammered black.

Got all the silver parts done tonight. Here are a couple pics of some of them:

Tomorrow night my son and I will paint the hammered parts.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Looks awesome! What kind of clear are you using? Being in Los angeles, we have to spray water based paints, and I used a new PPG water based clear...$375 per gallon....used 1 1/4 gallons for the fleetside 65 c20.....I still have most of the 2nd gallon left!

We used Napa Martin Senour, TC751 Clear, with TS3 Tec solvent#3, and
8876 hardner. I'm in northern NH, 28 degrees here today. When I started painting shop was 70 degrees. Whne I finshed after running the fan and with the make up air doors open the shop was 40 degrees.

NICEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE. I love those big blocks. That's what we will be doing. We already have the Tremec 5speed. We are thinking either the 427 or a 502, new from GM. What do you run for a tranny?
