Re: What did you do to your truck today!

I loaded the back with a bunch of tree branches that I pruned this morning. Then I popped the hood to check the fluids and discovered that I snapped an alternator belt sometime in the last few days..... I bet it was when I was hot rodding it yesterday and shifted at 5700 RPMs .

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

I got my cab painted. New cab corners, rockers and floor supports were put in over the last month. A little bit of filler over the welds and lots of primer and block sanding. Temp finally cooled down so I could paint.

Turned out OK, only one run but have some dust in the paint. Just a drive so might take the time to buff when it hardens up, but might just leave it.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

those brake lines look TERRIFIC! I Gotta do mine...they probably will look nothing like yours..

I put water in my rad. fluid in my trans and went to start it, started up good, and only got to run it 2 minutes and I noticed a gas leak...guess the compression fitting was only good for a few tries..

And now my starter hangs up...this things really making me mad...its my dd and i havent drivin it since May really.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Took my truck down to the alignment shop to confirm that my ball joints are bad. Getting them replaced next week and THEN I should finally be able to wheel her a bit! It has been an expensive few months trying to get the last of the "little" fixes done! New one piece drive line (I'll never go back to 2 piece), rebuilt rear end (also added posi ), and other minor fixes to make it feel reliable. Feel like I missed summer.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Lowered the passenger side 1 inch since the P.O. didn't know how to cut springs the same amount on both sides. Tomorrow, a trip to Ace for new hardware so I can get the same size suspension bolts on both sides.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Today was a good day, it was not too hot for a change. I did not get anything done on my trucks, but said hi to them.

I inventoried my truck parts, straightened the garage a little and checked out the head lights on the '86 4Runner. I figure the best way to get the lights to work on high and low beam will be to put in all new wiring with relays and a multi position toggle switch.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Actually did it on Tuesday... Welded up a new 3" exhaust from the headers back using Flowmaster 40 series mufflers. Dumped it out in front of the rear tires at an angle...so the opening looks like a 4" wide oval...

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Its been slow going with the 1970 4x4... Finally got a new windshield installed for $165 and moved the truck out to the parking area so my wife could have her carport back for her 1998 camaro convertable... I was so impressed with how it was running i went to start it up for my wife to hear it for the first time since i put my new bolt on 2 1/4 inch bolt on exhaust from lmc (fit like a glove) never got it to start i literally broke the starter in 2 pieces.... question ? anyone know why the starter would brake into pieces?

Did the aluminum snout break in half or did the body separate from the snout?

I have had a couple reman starters that the bolts holding the starter together were either overtightened and stripped out so they wouldn't hold torque or were not tightened enough right out of the box.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

The aluminum snout broke.. it is a high performance 327 with 202 camel humps and 2 1/4 exhaust with ram horn manifolds.. it does have lots of compression.
