First gear and reverse where messed up pretty bad the main thing was the gaear that drives first and reverse was missing a tooth. Got out of the place for $850. It's all together except for the linkage from the petal to the shift fork. Can't wait to go for a drive.

Yeah I can't wait either and it is getting closer. I am about ready to start it just to hear it run again. Hooking the linkage to the carb for the kickdown detent cable is being a royal pain. the old sideways Rochester B carb is a problem . I may just upgrade to a side pull linkage 2 barrel carb or turn the "B" a quarter turn CW so the linkage pulls in line with the motor.

Suck. Got my transmission in and ready to go. Then it snows. I told myself I would never let my trucks get wet so maybe tomorrow.

Thanks Dennis. Doing the drivers side today. Floor not as bad as the other side. Need to order some rockers. Just not sure what I need yet. I don't think I need a full rocker. I might just try to get by with using a door bottom. Well just got 10 lbs of wire and I need to go burn it up. I think I starting to get the hang of this welding thing. Least now I don't try to weld rust together. I love this stuff. I wish I would have started in High School. If I would have, maybe I would have a truck I could driver by now. My goal is to be just like you. Scary huh.

Re: Daverods project 66

it prolly would look better if you welded on a clean surface to begin with and added a little more power/heat less wire feed , it looks like the weld is laying on top of the metal that needs to be welded .... not enough penetration ...... you did use the mig with gas didnt you , that allso helps it should look like it just about flowed intoo the surrounding metal
everyone should be able to weld eventually if they try and know wat to do when surtan things happen mig welding should sound like sissling bacon in a frying pan when its cracling and its too high power or too little wirefeed hissing is to low power to big wirefeed when you set the balance on a couple of scraps youre usually set for the rest of the truck , just keep the small spot blasts around the piece all about the same time each time to get a nice even bead around the piece the welder i used actually had a timer to give spotwelds and it worked verry nice
