I've never heard of any brakes being so hard to bleed, it doesn't seem right.

Started off the day with several coming over to pick up parts. In between them I got the truck out and organized tools and needed parts. Found the 67 correct drivers outdoor handle I thought I had and got that installed. Then BMERDOC came over and helped get the front clip on

Had to loosely throw the bumper on. Going to keep it outside tonight for the first time in months since its all buttoned up and no rain in the forecast.

Re: Project#2 67-72 Restoration's Shop truck

It never fails to shock me how much room there is in the engine compartment in these trucks, it just seems so bare compared to modern computerized trucks with all the latest options, it even makes that gen 1 small block seem extra small LOL

Re: Project#2 67-72 Restoration's Shop truck

Got a lot of little things done today that don't look like much. Got the lower 4 core mounts in and mounted the radiator. Will have to come back out for me to install the fan shroud. Painted up the shroud because it was previously painted and needed a fresg coat of satin black. Sprayed the radiator so it will match everything else. Started working on the ground straps.

Re: Project#2 67-72 Restoration's Shop truck

Tons more progress today but doesn't look like much Did wiring including ground wires. Got a new headlight switch installed. Got the fan shroud finished up. Had to hunt for the clips and couldn't find where I put them but found another pair I had. Found some dual horns I had saved aside and painted them up. Will post a few pics I took in a minute

Pics
One of the few original battery trays I've seen with no rust. Looks like they undercoated it when they did the undercarriage and frame.

Ground wires and a pic showing the hei and wiring and linkage.

Thanks guys!

Hope to get a lot further along this weekend and then get it over to Bmerdoc's shop for a final tightening of every bolt, safety check, and the air ride final install since I'll have access to a lift there. Plan to mock up location of the air ride components Saturday and get the rest of the wiring done and hopefully see if it's ready to turn over. Will wait to fire it up until Bmerdoc is here just to be on the safe side in case any troubleshooting is needed or an extra set of hands...

Re: Project#2 67-72 Restoration's Shop truck

No pics today because despite several hours of work there was no visual change. Got the wiper pump lines hooked up and run to the squirters...so I could mount the wiper cowl for good. Got that done and moved back to the wiring. Got the wires all hooked up and.....nothing....looks like there is a break in the wire that (purple) that comes off the starter and provides power to the main fuse block. I am going to have BMERDOC look it over before I start changing out wiring but that looks to be the case...everything else looks good and I verified I have good grounds.

Also lubed up the door and window mechs...the driver's regulator just spins at the handle (has since the first day) So i'll be replacing that. Passenger one seemed tight...until I lubed it up and let it sit for a bit. Now it works fine. Also lubed up the door hinges and vent window pivots. Everything works really well (other than the driver's regulator) and no squeaks either )

Got the air ride parts together and figured out the spot I want to put them. I am getting another tank because the one I got from Accuair has no mounting points on it since it's made for exo mounts.....I ordered one tonight with mounting brackets so I can bolt it to the frame crossmember at the rear. The Viair 400C compressor will mount to the back side of the frame and run right into the tank there.

Re: Project#2 67-72 Restoration's Shop truck

It's alive! Well...almost I got the wiring figured out with a quick text to Bmerdoc. I had neglected the wire from the new positive cable to the junction block on the firewall. I forgot because I replaced all of the positive cable wiring at once with new stuff to be safe since it had been sitting so long. I also put a new negative cable on and added a ground coming out of that to the fender. Once I got a wire w/ inline fuse installed between the positive cable and the junction block I have lights and it cranks (I turned the key for 1 sec and the starter worked) Also got the correct Power steering hose in today so I'll be able to button up the engine....plan to put all the fluids in, run the spark plug wires, and be ready to start it up when Bmerdoc comes over hopefully sometime this weekend.

Re: Project#2 67-72 Restoration's Shop truck

Here's a quick picture with the parking lights on. Still have to do some more in-cab wiring and the rear light harness (on its' way) but nice to see it with some power for the first time.

Re: Project#2 67-72 Restoration's Shop truck

It was cool to see the dash light up, battery voltage looked spot on, and the wiper pump was working (I had pushed it a while back so it ran for a second when I first turned the key on) Hazards work but turns don't (assuming since the rear harness isn't hooked up)

Will do! gotta get the rad/heater hoses today. Forgot the ones I had were for an angled neck on the upper and the two lowers I have are suspect so I'm going new. Thanks again for all of your help!

Thanks, new job is very good. A lot of upside potential. If I had a little more time at home it would be absolutely perfect but every job has compromises. This week I will have no nights away and have been able to spend a lot of time catching up with paperwork and designs/quotes for customers, with my family and get a few minutes here and there in the garage.

Re: Project#2 67-72 Restoration's Shop truck

Got a new upper rad hose tonight. Brought one I had with a picture of where it didn't fit and guesstimated based on the ones hanging up. Found one that was supposedly a lower hose for some other vehicle and it looks like it was made to fit the truck going right up and over the fan shroud. Didn't have to trim at all...nice when a plan comes together Got the lower rad hose and the heater hoses also on and clamped down so I'm ready to add water and fire it up. It was raining off and on so I couldn't pull it out of the garage so hopefully I'll have better weather Saturday afternoon and Sunday to work on it and actually fire it up for the first time (in the truck---the engine was out of an earlier 70 longbed I had and is a recent rebuild.
