Re: frame swap for a 4x4

Hello Grendel,
When you say there is a 1 " differnece in the middle of the frame between a 2x4 truck and a 4x4 truck, will it matter if I want to convert my truck from 2x4 to 4x4?
Thanks,
Rick

And both of these are 1/2 tons, right? Just curious, thanks Ryan.

Re: frame swap for a 4x4

I've got it in my head now that i'm gonna convert my 2wd chevy frame with rear leaves to 4x4. I need to call Kurt at DIY and see if his FGB52 spring hangers will work. Nothing too radical but cool none the less.

I guess the question is: If side by side 3/4 ton or 1/2 ton 4x4/..........................is one taller in the channel height than the other or both the same height???

Re: frame swap for a 4x4

okay, I'll measure my 69 K-20.

The reason I ask is if there is /was a diff between the 3/4 or the 1/2 K trucks. and a diff between those to the 2wd same trucks

With the 52" springs, you don't have to mess with the e-brake bump out. Tell him I sent you.
Yeah i'll tell him. Hopefully get started real soon. Need to get the truck out of storage first.

On my Longhorn frame, which I think would be the same as a camper special leaf spring rear susp truck, there is only 3/8 difference in frame channel heighth according to these measurements. As Padresag posted his 4x4 3/4 ton frame is 8" high at 10" behind the front cab mount. My Longhorn frame is 7 5/8" From top of flange to bottom of flange 10" behind the front cab mount. So maybe there is an inch difference on the coil spring rear 3/4 ton trucks?
