Re: FITech Experiences ?

I bought mine direct from FiTech but they only offer free shipping if you spend $1495. Lol.

Re: FITech Experiences ?

I wonder if 5 years from now, if the internal pump in the FCC goes out, if we can replace it ourselves.

Why wouldn't you it is just a 340lph intank fuel pump.
I forgot I would suggest getting a fuel pump relay also forgot about telling you that.

Re: FITech Experiences ?

I'm buying the FCC because my 65 has the tank in the cab. If I can just put a pump in my tank, I wouldn't need the FCC.

Yes. I think you misunderstood my post. What I was saying why wouldn't you be able to replace the pump in the FCC it is just a intank 340lph pump that is inside the FCC. And buy a fuel pump relay. Use the relay with the FCC. Cause you will have to hook the orange wire on the main harness to the FCC that triggers the pump. Use the relay. Go back over to my thread and read why.

Re: FITech Experiences ?

Okay, yes. I misunderstood.
I guess I'm just asking if the FCC can be opened up in the event the internal pump goes out.
I've been looking the FCC over, and I'm not sure if it can be opened up.

I'll probably get through Summit just because I have had good luck dealing with them when I built the engine. Looks like they aren't shipping till mid-January but I won't be firing it till the Spring anyways.
Forgive my memory TJ, were you running the Eddie Pro Flo system at one time?

Looks like there is four notches on the top that can take a spanner wrench and right bellow that I can see a seam where it looks like the top unscrews from the bottom

If you look up part #40102 it's a 340 L/PH Fuel Pump.
Quote from there description of part #40102
"This high quality in-tank fuel pump is a replacement for the fuel pump that is used in the Fuel Command Centers (40003). If a mounting bracket is needed, see the 80110 Bracket listed on this page."
http://fitechefi.com/default.asp.pg-...riesComponents
and
http://fitechefi.com/default.asp?cli...one&SubCatID=0
So, yes I say you probably can replace it yourself.

Rodsgreen10: I'm reading through your informative posts on the "Simple Green" thread. What intake are you using the FI on? Single or dual plane?

No I have never run an aftermarket FI on any of my stuff. Always old school before.

Re: FITech Experiences ?

so let me be the one to ask a dumb question, I guess I would have to relocate my tank and I could not use the behind the seat tank?? or can I just run an inline electric pump

Re: FITech Experiences ?

Not a stupid question.
You can use your fuel system as is.
Just get the FiTech Fuel Command Center.
It's a fuel sump/pump that works off your existing fuel pump.
That's what I'm doing.

Yep, that's the magic sauce! I think everyone here is curious on how well the system performs, especially long term.

Re: FITech Experiences ?

I'm suspecting it's going to work great.

There's a few YouTube videos out there of guys using the Edelbrock version of the sump pump.
It seems pretty simple.
Use your existing mechanical pump to pump gas into a small storage tank that has a high pressure electronic pump inside to feed the Throttle body.
There's one guy in these forums that built his own.

Re: FITech Experiences ?

I stopped by the FiTech shop on Wed. and was checking out the systems. I already have my Go Street and Fuel Command Center on order and they are hoping the systems will be in and shipping out on Jan. 15th time frame. I did check out the FCC in person. It is very nice unit and built very stout. It really is a great solution to not having to deal with a new tank setup. Other nice thing is, if I ever sell the vehicle this system is in, I can always swap it back to a carb and keep the EFI for another vehicle. Since I didn't mess with the stock mechanical fuel system, it makes it easy.

I've really been giving thought to where we - with our generation trucks might mount the FCC. The Driver's side of the core support may be considered the obvious location, but I don't think I want to run hoses from the mechanical pump across to the other side, and then down the driver's side back to the firewall back to the TBI.
If I dumped the firewall heater, then that would be a great location.

I have a '72 and been wondering a bit about that. There is lots of free space in the engine room but not sure of an ideal spot. My truck front clip isn't together right now so I can't figure it out yet. I definitely want to keep it on the passenger side for ease of plumbing. Don't know if there will be any room around the battery / cannister corner.

Re: FITech Experiences ?

So, there's quite some discussion going on in 'Simple Green's' thread about cold starts possibly related to grounding issues.
Discussion starts here : http://www.67-72chevytrucks.com/vboa...70#post7429670

I mounted my surge tank (FCC) behind the battery, nice and hidden. You can see it on my build thread http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=603726 post#11. Had the FCC been available, we probably would have use it instead of fabricating one.

Looks good in there. Is that where the factory vapour canister mounts ?
