1 on the top, 2 on the bottom. I’m assuming they put it in the middle since they couldn’t use 2 rivets. Bed bolt in the way for 2 rivets. Just guessing tho.

Re: project "GOT BORED" 1988 1500 sportside

I've been trying to think up some different mods to do. I played around with photoshop and this is what i came up with. Added front bedside pieces similar to a S10 or '99+ sportside, Then section the bedside down about 1.5" to make it level with the sidewindows or the top bodyline. What do ya'll think?

love the build! the front s10 pieces and sectioning the bed are awesome idea's....thumbs up! you ought to do it. it would look killer. i like the pipe notch idea. thats what i plan to do, except go alittle deeper and weld a 2x2 on top of the frame which will still clear the bed floor (without cutting)

is the front bagged only? with no drop spindles?

It looks great. Photoshop is great. It gives you instant satisfaction and is a lot cheaper then really doing what you want.

Re: project "GOT BORED" 1988 1500 sportside

but then again, it may be a hard mod to section the bed... i think some or most of the bedsides are fiberglass. metal would be a whole lot easier

Thanks for the compliment.
Right now its bagged in the front with stock spindles. The rear is just a axle flip. I still need a link setup and bag brackets for the rear.

The bedside is fiberglass(SMC). I do plan to do this. I'm always looking for something todo that looks alittle different. With metal you have to worry about wrapping, and with fiberglass repair it's the adhesive shrinkage. Its always something.

Not really any progress. I kinda lost motivation for a while, but I'm getting the itch back again. Took off the bags and put spindles, cut springs, and ball joints on. Also reset the speedometer for the 22's and rolled the fender pinch welds. Still looks about the same as it did with the bags.

Re: project "GOT BORED" 1988 1500 sportside

No update yet. I'm waiting on tax return to get the metal for a back half, brake rotors and pads, cab bushings and por15. It should be here by next month. After that everything from the cab down will be brand new, rebuilt, or custom. I started at the ground and am working my way up. I'm just as ready to do it as you are to see it. lol
Those are the last pieces I need to finish the chassis and suspension. Then I can finally start bodywork and painting the interior. Thanks for showing some interest. it does help me stay motivated knowing someone beside my kids are interested as well.

Now I'm in the process of reworking that ugly front bumper. White did not go with the red. Every time I looked at it, it remined me of a Coke can.
