Re: Project "RACE TRUCK" aka "Last of the spare parts" build

The race truck got some love this weekend after being all alone for 2 weeks! The engine harness got hooked up and we heard it run! She got a new heater core and a blower fan that hadnt been eaten by rodents. After a little V8 to I6 race truck Z bar fabrication we also got the clutch all hooked up. Check out that light weight race truck zoomie exhaust sticking out underneath the Z-bar. We are thinking about the no door option for weight restrictions at the track!!! Probably need to put in a tube grille and send it to Barrett Jackson! SHOW TRUCK!

Re: Project "RACE TRUCK" aka "Last of the spare parts" build

A few necessary race touches were added this past week....we need an "under the hood" light for fine tuning the engine at those night races so we installed this little touch. To help power it along with the race electric water pump, fuel pump, cooling electric fans and all of the nitrous solenoids we had to add a homemade high amp race alternator! Way more custom race mods to come!!!

Actuallly the race exhaust is eventually going to be run out through a stack in the bed. Tractor pull race truck!
We are currently working on a carbon fiber glove box door to off set the extra weight the stack contributes!

Re: Project "RACE TRUCK" aka "Last of the spare parts" build

Well.....the day finally arrived.....it was driven! The "frame off" restoration was finally put on the road today. Looks great and drives even better....a few more subtle touches like lights, window regulators, N.O.S. bottle and wiring and we should be about done. We figured out today she is sporting parts from 10+ trucks. We also got excited and had a moment of weakness today and thought about tearing it back apart for 3 years and dumping $25,000 dollars in it so we would have a $7000 truck. Luckily a vote was cast and we opted to leave it the way it is! The tough race exhaust stack was a hit and it sounds great!

SO RACY!

Where were all you Georgia boys at when I built my "race truck"? I coulda' saved a bunch of money. Looks great, and used parts from 10 trucks. We will all have to meet at the Canton cruise-in with our trucks this summer. I should have mine back together again by June. Paul Baxter

Greg...some of your parts are displayed proudly!!! Fenders and shifter. The name of the truck is Race truck III-Frame off-way too tough! Like British roayalty...more names than needed! Now since it belongs to Taylor "Old School Kid" if he wants to associate it with the rainbow..he is more than welcome!

We are going to shoot for 2 different color bumpers and headlight bezels also! Only problem with bumpers is it may slow it down.

Are any of you Georgia boys coming to the cruise-in this Saturday in Canton? If so, I will be looking for your trucks. I wish mine was going to be ready. I always enjoy answering the questions folks have about our old trucks. Paul Baxter

Re: Project "RACE TRUCK" aka "Last of the spare parts" build

Very cool yall,I would drive that truck with pride.Nice group effort and use of spare parts that would otherwise just be sittin around collecting dust.Yall should find some side draft Weber or some other kind of cool induction for the Six
