Re: Hemi anyone? 6.1/ 6.4

engine went right in, i had to notch the frame a little in the front to clear the AC and alt. used the same trans cross member as the 700r4 even the same trans mount for the mopar 5 speed. LS and hemi motor mounts as fas has the block bolt pattern are the same. once i removed the factory bolt on K member mounts. had a nice platform to make motor mounts. the computer and Harness is new and a hot rod piece 2500.00. uses a new flashed 2009 computer. motor had real low miles. makes 500hp has double overdrive. Quite too and pretty good mileage. loves the FWY. i have 3 vehicles. this one loves the FWY.

NOW who wants me to install one?????

Re: Hemi anyone? 6.1/ 6.4

Other car companies make some great motors. But, you swap a motor from another car company because you have to. GM owners don't have to. No matter what way you go, high-tech up to the minute or old school, GM has it covered...and quite well thank you. Why not put that motor in a 61-71 Dodge truck? Other car companies made cool old trucks, too.

some of the best fords in the world have chevy motors in them , a mopar needs a mopar motor..... a chevy needs a chevy motor. all others will be better off with a gm motor . its helps the world go round , kinda like grease on the wheel ..... Don

707 horsepower in a unibody car? When AJ Gottlieb ran the Silver State Classic in 1989 the '69 Camaro (also a unibody car) Big Red used a Donovan 540 pushing just over 600HP. The car was campaigned for two more years then garaged because it tore itself apart. Too much flexure at the suspension pick-up points in the rear and where the front subframe mated to the body. The rebuilt and resurrected Big Red uses a specially constructed tube frame. So, you guys go ahead and drive the wheels off those unibody Hellcats.
I'll just watch from the safety of my Corvette and pass out the Darwin Awards as those Mopars self-destruct! OBTW I am running my 2015 Z06 (650 Hp and a seven speed manual on a full hydroformed 6061 Aluminum frame) in the Silver State this year. Leaving O-Dark Thirty tomorrow for practice at LVMS then on to Ely.

Re: Hemi anyone? 6.1/ 6.4

my uncle i got my project truck from put a 426 in his f250 back in the 80's when the 390 blew up.he got the motor very cheap and wrote a letter (remember those) to chryslers engineering department asking them to help him put it in his ford. they sent him drawings of everything to fab up and it was a nice looking setup.
he told a story about hauling a small kubota tractor in the bed on the freeway one time and had a guy in a stingray corvette come up beside him.for the hell of it he gunned it when the guy down geared to third and blew his doors off for a few miles until his offramp came up. the guy followed him down and then pulled alongside asking what the hell do you have in that truck? being a smartass he just looked back at the tractor and said "a kubota".

Re: Hemi anyone? 6.1/ 6.4

Found this via an internet search after seeing it on the C10 Addiction group on Facebook. Do you have a build thread anywhere documenting the swap? I love stuff like this. It's what's great about the car culture is making your ride an expression of your personality instead of another cookie cutter version of everything else.

That looks great! I'm happy to see something totally different. You must get alot of head scratchers when you pop the hood, great feeling isn't it. While I'm stuck in the old school era, I always say, to each his own, what ever floats your boat. nothing wrong with that. VERY NICE JOB!!

Nope, not possible. They're J1349 certified and cannot be over or under rated. Must be within 2% of actual.

That story is as old as motors, really. It used to be true, but not since about 2005.

They probably ARE the best engine ever built in that price range. Got a one better?

Re: Hemi anyone? 6.1/ 6.4

Haters is too strong a word. If it's supposed to be ok for Chevy truck lovers to like putting a Dodge engine in their truck, it's also ok for true Chevy Truck lovers to disapprove. And that doesn't mean we say he can't do it or he is a bad person or that we hate him. Just don't expect us to want to own it. People do all sorts of things I would never do to their trucks on this site and I don't expect everybody to like what I do. I'm fine with that, that's what makes the world go around. But, to expect no reaction from true GM fans is plum ignorant...especially at the internet home for such types.

Thanks....its my daily driver. built it for that, it does a great job. if i had found a LS motor for what i paid for this...who knows maybe things would be different and this post wouldn't exist, and we would be looking at a post with way less comments.

Lol Blackfish, way to go man. That is a gorgeous example of a C10, and one I'd be proud to own. If my truck was half that nice I'm not sure what I'd do! And a daily to boot? Rockin', bro, just rockin'.

This reminds me of an article I read about a guy tossing an LS in a fox body. The F*rd guys threw fits!!!

I don't usually like lowered trucks with big wheels, but dang, yours is pretty nice, Blackfish. Kudos. Maybe next time I'm driving through Ventura on the way to the inlaws I'll be lucky enough to see it on the road!

Re: Hemi anyone? 6.1/ 6.4

Yeah, this truck has all the stuff I don't like - big wheels, lowered, matte paint - but does it in a way I actually like. So Kudos!

I particularly like the chrome, the way it looks brushed. Could just be the photos for all I know, but it's a good look.

Missed this one from a couple years ago. What a clean install!!! Overall truck looks great too.

Don't listen to all the naysayers, they probably all eat vanilla ice cream

I have to ask though... what the hell is "double overdrive?"
