I finally had few free hours to work my 1 ton this weekend. I have had it few weeks now, but have been too busy to touch it. I got out there Saturday, and put a set a 16" rims and tires I had laying around and got it running. This truck has been sitting since 1992, so needless to say it has some issues that need addressing. I changed out the gas tank and master cylinder with used stuff from a parts truck that was running a few months ago. I pulled the cap and rotor and filed the points, and the ol' 292 came right back to life!! I anticipated a carb change, but it actually ran pretty good after it ran awhile. It would need building if I were going to start driving everyday, but since I'm going with the diesel, I just wanted to see if I could get this engine running to get it mobile. I took it a quick little run up the road, and the 292 felt amazingly strong to have sat for so long. I'm sure those 5.14's in the Eaton rearend didn't have anything to do with it!! The SM420 tranny (the only part of the drivetrain I am going to keep in the truck) shifted very smooth, and doesn't have the slop in the shifter that some of the high mileage trucks I have had. This truck only has 61,000 showing on the odometer, and judging by the wear on the pedals, and the fact the factory seat is not torn, and how tight it drove, I think the miles are correct. The front fenders, hood, and doors are nearly flawless, with only a few very minor dings. They have no rust which is a huge plus!! The rockers have a little, but are not near as bad as most I seen. It felt great to actually be able to drive it, and now I am on fire more than I was before!!

I sat in the seat and had a heartfelt conversation with the 67 and explained to it that it would only be a few more months and I could let it out of its winter cave to play.

Cleaned and repainted the old oil pan and timing chain cover (no chrome china crap or expensive billet for me) Chevy orange, chevy orange, chevy orange till ya puke! Did some "combat body work" Sunday on a '90 Toyota Corolla...she doesn't merit anything but plastic filler and primer so the welder didn't even get plugged in.

Another guy here who was down with the flu. I can't remember being quite so sick. Like Andy my nose was like a faucet. I didn't know so much sh!t could come out of my head. Today I'm feeling better. Started procedure to put new intake manifold gaskets and fuel pressure regulator in my '97.

Although I didn't get as much done as I had hoped, I did learn to not try to paint over POR-15. I stripped a lot of it off the frame, but every bit of it that's left keeps bleeding through my rustoleum primer. So after two cans of primer I'll get to strip it completely down and start over .

The help I had on saturday (roommate) was able to degrease the crossmember though, so hopefully it will be done in the next few days. I'll post some pics when I get some time.

Sunday was church, super bowl party, then an early night 'cause today I started my new job. Went pretty well. It's definitely a move 'up' from my old job.

with thanks to 71swb4x4 I got my new daily driver running quiet & a new heater core along with a tune-up, coolant flush, oil change, fuel filter & lines replaced. that was all with in about 5 hours on Saturday. on Sunday I had more fun than should be legal having fun with my 2 boys. then today I made some benches for the garage. tomorrowmy oldest son has a scout meeting at our house. maybe I will get a chance to rest when I die.

Tx, sorry bout your cab. Hope you find a better one close and cheap.

Put in a 16' rolling gate on the back fence. Got the boat moved to the back yard. Moved 2 yards of dirt..... Er, moved 1 yard 2 times. Changed the oil and got my front end aligned.

67 C-30 = A friend of mine has a 68 C-30 just like yours. His has the dump flat bed.
And its a light blue. Another guy near the old house restored a 72 C-30 and uses it for his landscape bussiness.

I'm still waiting to take delivery of my k20. It's a$$ cold here this week -- 13 degrees this morning. I'm contemplating doing body work and mechanical, or jumping right in and doing frame-off / ground up stuff.
