Yes, from 69 - 72 the door switch was an option. It was included with the CST/cheyenne/Cheyenne Super option package.
I haven't seen it in writing, but I suspect any truck with the cargo lamp automaticly recieved the door switches...every truck I've seen with the cargo lamp had the switch, and a couplke of them did not list the switch on the option sheet.

My 70 Burb I sold to Smonty was a thin option list. I have a pricture I will have to dig out but as I recall the only things listed were
White for color

292 ( think that automaticly got the 4.10 rear end.)
TH350
interior option I think for the headliner that was only over the front seats and passanger side visor.
AM radio.

I have a thin option Pontiac LeMans Convertable.
Only options are Convertable
Floor shift package (that got the center consol and bucket fronts and a Hurst shifter)
Remote driverside mirror
Sport steering wheen and delux wheel covers
Lighting conveince groupe that got rear bolster lights, trunk light and under hood light.
350 engine.
AM radio with otional rear speaker. No reverb.

Here is the option sticker for a '72 GMC C/1500 down the road from me...just color and trim. Last time I posted this, someone had a pic of their sticker, it did not even have a trim listed, just paint color.

here is a pic of my truck's sticker, it has a few oddballs...marker lights, paint stripe, towhooks. of course, out of these three, only 1 remain (the lights). d'oh!

What about the feathers option in '72, I have only seen one of those and it was not original. Someone had a feathers package on E-bay a couple months ago. On the paint stripe, dad had a 69 that was I6 250, powerglide and paint stripe did not realize that the stripe was even an option....

I just saw one of those in the bone-yard a few weeks back! 75 I think. Had a great aux battery set-up too.

Super-K, yes, most of those are rare, the glove box light was a dealer only, not a factory option.
The clearnace lights were listed in my list of items...

Roof mounted clearance lamps (68 only) 2%
The figure is only for 68 since that book didn't list it on any other year.

How many people have options on the truck that are original, but not listed on the glove box? My tach and tilt are not listed on the glove box, but I know that they are original, they have definately been in the truck since day one.

the one ton longhorn was the other way around, it listed optional mirrors, but had base model ones. Original paint proves that these are in fact the only mirrors ever bolted on.

1 I have no idea whats up with your GMC.
2 CST and Cheyenne are the same RPO, they just didn't bother typing it out properly in 71/72.
3 Foam seats were part of the CST, and I think later it became part of a lower option package.

yo, my options are new mods, but i would like to post and see who thinks what of it.
I have a tow package that is hidden, i lift up my license plate to put in the hitch.
also a 454 engine that runs on unleaded or natural gas. I was wondering if and how many have put in a 454, or if there was any one else out there who used alternative fuel, iam sure that there is a 67-72 out there somewhere on propane, but i don't know about natural gas. just wondering

The difference between an option and an accessory is that an option is some item that is a Regular Production Option... or RPO as its listed. RPO's are done on the assembly line as that the way the truck was ordered... accessorres are added after the factory but are still GM parts or they might not be. Accessories are items added either by the dealership or perhaps an afterthought by a purchaser of the truck that wanted something else besides what the truck had as it was viewed on the lot after coming of the assembly line.

Options are like positraction, tinted windows, air conditioning bucket seats paint and trim combinationsetc, etc. While accessories are items like spot lights , first aid kits , compass, fire extinguisher, tissue box.

Sought after options not on the truck as it came off the line could be ordered and added by the dealer... so lets say you wanted tow hooks ,.. you could get them added to your truck afterwards but it could also have been ordered originally with them.

My '69 CST 20 had a special paint code on the build sheet (it was a medium blue and white) and WAS NOT delivered to the dealer's lot in Walla Walla, Washington, but delivered to the Pendleton, Oregon roundup grounds. According to the original owner, the truck was ordered to be used for the Pendleton Roundup, and was sold afterward. Does that make it rare ?

it may be one of one...but that may or may not make it desirable.
Does your option sheet list the COPO and special paint? If not, then there is no way to prove anything, and delivering a vehicle directly to the consumer sounds kinda bogus to me.

The build sheet had printed on it "Deliver to Pendleton Roundup rodeo grounds" in the bottom half of the build sheet, and it also had an unusual code in the paint code area, so yes, it was documented to be delivered to the consumer at the Pendleton Roundup, and the paint was factory, because I bought it from the original owner with less than 25000 original miles in 1979 (a little old gentleman who only drove it church and occasional shopping).

My truck has the "avacado highlander" option, but I don't see what is so great about it. Maybe the PO's removed it.
What all came with the highlander option? Just a seat?
