oem specialites makes the wheels. as for emissions i just need an evap, cat, egr, and a tac for a 1979 federal vehicle. i'll worry about that later though. got it smogged before i started, so ive got 2 years

Re: she wanted in......so she got in

I think i'll just die now. man i went to start it and it fired on the first try. i went back to start it and the piston is either hitting the head, it has too much compression, or the piston is hitting the valves. i loosed all of the valves and took out the spark plugs and it cranks fine, so that kind of eliminates the piston to head clearance issue, but i dont know where to go next. if its piston to valve the valve would be bent, but all cylinders have awesome compression. if its too much compression i'm not sure where to go next. any help or idea would be great. Thanks in advance -Ram

Ok, how did you line up your timing chain? Dot to dot or dot to zero. I did that one time and the valves were just barely hitting the piston, fortunately for me. I just re aligned the timing gears and put it back together. It was fine.

Re: she wanted in......so she got in

69face, consider yourself lucky with that hit your truck took - the second day I had my dually it got hit the same ways as yours, same location too, only I ended up with bent frame horns, front passenger cab mount ripped off, radiator support moved like 2-3" to the left, dislocated hood, effed-up passenger fender, nicely bent up bumper, and broken headlight and grille. Worst thing, it was a hit and run accident, I was visiting a friend and parked in front of her house while we went out for dinner in her car, I damn near got a heart attack when I we came back to that carnage... Ain't got no clue as to what hit me, but considering the time and amount of damage I'd imagine it was someone pulling a DUI in a truck, and I sincerely hope he/she got pulled over and ended up spending the night in a jail cell somewhere

Your truck is coming along real nice tho, congrats on a job well done, but if you're in Cali how you gonna pass that big motor through them emissions nazis?

Re: she wanted in......so she got in

She drove it and said "I lose control when passing at 70mph" I didn't know what she was talking about until I took it out to a drive The tires get way loose on acceleration. I pulled the motor the next day
