Re: your 2011 plans for your 67 72

Im in high gear installing a 4-4 drop with spindles and springs. I rebuilt the core support and battery box today and Im ready to install the right lower control arm and spindle. Ive got new inner fender wells and a new right front fender waiting to go on once the drops done. Im going to address the engine this winter too. I plan on using the truck to tow and haul my "streetable" drag bike...its "old school" too...

Re: your 2011 plans for your 67 72

This year I plan to do the following to my blazer. 3/4 ton brake booster conversion with new rotors & wheel bearings, have utility buckets and back seat recovered, install vinyl flooring, make and install rear interior cargo panels out of diamond plate aluminum, re-dye the door panels, and keep driving it every day.

Re: your 2011 plans for your 67 72

1) Find a place I can work on it at--whether that's a "shop" or just the rent-a-bay dela I've been looking for since I got the truck almost two years ago.
then I can do real work on it, including:
2) pull the worn 305 and put a good 350 in it, with a hydraulic roller cam.
3) OD trans, nearly any type as long as the gas it saves pays for the cost.
4) derust and clean up the body...not sure if I care about paint so much as killing the rust. If I do paint it'll be the Rustoleum treatment, not likely this year though.
5) If I get that and regular maintenance done then I'll move on to disk brakes and maybe wheels. That's it for this year though.

Re: your 2011 plans for your 67 72

I plan to get this back on the road, completed by Feb 21. This was as of the middle of this week. Once I get back from deplyment, then it is on to the inside. And the hard part of finding a roll/ light bar that is exactly what I am looking for.

Re: your 2011 plans for your 67 72

Just get it running. A year ago tomorrow, my truck's 350 threw a rod with only 6,000 miles or so on the clock. I'm now rebuilding the 305 that I had in the truck for nearly 4 years.

I plan to do what I wanted to do in '09 and didn't get done in '10. That's what I plan, but I'd be happy if by '12 I get done what I planned in '07 to get done by '08.

Re: your 2011 plans for your 67 72

I have new chromoly roller rockers, pushrods, and tall valve covers. The valve covers are aluminum ansen type, they look kewl. I almost purchased those orange "572 Chevrolet" valve covers but they look best on aluminum cylinder heads, in my opinion. I have rear springs that will lower it 3 inches and I am in the process of finding the best gas shocks for that heigth. Any suggestions??? I had some bungs for oxygen sensors welded into the exhaust when I had the new muffs installed. My buddy is a LS-1 wizard and we r gonna get to know the carb on this thing inside and out. I finally installed a suitable throttle cable/TV cable bracket and got that off my back!!! :} Once I get the rear springs installed I can order the correct front springs for a big block at a slightly lower than stock heigth, just to kinda level it out. I bought 3" for the rear cause the ass end is way up there for some reason. I have seen some trucks on here with the same stance. I have another 72' that has a perfect factory stance, I love it. I want the red one just a little lower and level. This summer I will know if my new aluminum radiator is gonna do the trick or not. If not, I will add some aux. fans to the list.
