should be close to stock but aluminum wheels are thicker then the steel so dont be surprised if the wheels do come out a bit more then the steel about an 1"-1.5" and thats just the thickness of the aluminum vs the steel

they are scrambling just to put the first sets together so no plan to break them up at this time as I do have another customer who wants to run the 17's on the fron with the 20's on the rear so he may have to buy all 6 20's if he doesnt want to wait.

keep in mind same width and back space aside, aluminum center at least 1" thick, steel what about a 1/4" or so, so the wheels should come out a bit more from the hubs then the steel.

That alone = not fitting on lowered trucks. Even w/mild drops, the outside edge of the outer wheel/tire is close to the fender. I highly doubt an additional inch would work....

check this truck out with 19.5 Vision Heavy Haulers, they are 4 aluminum with steel inners also 19.5 and 225/70-19.5 at 31.9" tall and 8.85 ea tire width.

Keep in mind, that in a dual rear wheel application you must subtract 10% from that rating, making those tires 1534lb and 1687lb capacity respectively. In that application you are looking just a bit over 6100lbs capacity on the rear axle. You are well under the rear GAWR at that weight rating. Not to mention, the P rated tires have softer sidewalls, so even if they are not loaded to the max, they still flex the sidewall much more than a LT tire, this will cause the tires to heat up more, and possibly even touch in the rear and is just asking for a blowout.

That setup would be ok for a show truck, or the occasional small boat, but it definitely wouldn't cut it for towing duty.

I am definitely interested though, these would go great with the stock 275/60R20 or 275/65R20E tires that come stock on the newer trucks on stock height or slightly lifted truck like my dually. I'm interested to learn more about the "interlocking" feature as well. Will these use conical lug seats or a flat face nut/washer mounting? I know the latter would greatly cut down on the mounting flange width, allowing inner aluminum wheels.

Are they going to be that thick at the mounting flange? Or will they be flat face like the Ford aluminum wheels which are much thinner than conical lug seat aftermarket dually wheels. Those style are ~5/8" thick.

they interlock with a male to female type grooves so the wheels do not turn on each other, they will take a mag shanked lug with a washer, once I get the first set I can post some pics of both front and back of wheel.

maxwheels my "egay" comment was by no means directed at you lol. i was excited to see that someone has finally stepped up to make a 20" wheel for our trucks and cant wait to see a set mounted and what it takes to get it there. i drive a airbagged dually so i'll be looking forward to seeing a set on a truck laying frame/body.

Just talked to Trevor over at T.W.A.T.

He said he had a set about 8 months ago that he got from EA for fitment testing. Said they threw a cheap set of tires on 'em and popped them onto a dropped square and they fit great. He said that the inner offsets are different from the outers. That's how they get them to fit; so the wheels are not interchangeable as far as inners/outers/fronts/rears go.

He qualified all of this info by reiterating that this was 8 months ago, so who knows what's changed (if anything) since then.

Was wondering why EA was marketing them on a per-set basis. Guess that covers it.

Still curious as to the overall mounting width of the 2 alum 20" wheels vs. a OE 16" steel inner/alum outer combo.

Exactly.... If this was done, then the wheels could work on a dually w/a 6-8" rear drop if one dismisses the tire capacity concerns.

I advocate 'safety' when re-building a vehichle & making changes to the suspension. I don't feel the 4x 20" LT rear tires are much of an issue in my app (18ft car hauler w/a 1/2 ton C10 as cargo) but if more payload is possible, the correct load range tires should be utilized (which would kill the 20's for me).

I have a questions now. I have read this post and the other on 67-72 Chevy forum. Spent a good part of the afternoon crunching numbers of tire height and load rating, then went wait a minute, we run 20's on our service truck. This is my question: Can you run a 31.90" tire on a bagged out truck? TW&T sells 22's with 305/40/22 that measure 31.70", I don't know if anybody is running them on the front thou.

Here is what I came up with fellow friends:
Kumho has a 20" tire that has a load rating of 2833lbs, fits on a 7.5" rim and measures 31.90"(275/55/20). The tire is called the ECSTA STX, the exact tire we run on our service truck. True, they are 295/45/20's, which from what I can see they dont offer anymore. But none the less, they are excellent tires. We run a '97 Chevy ex-cab short box 1/2 ton that rolls down the road all day at 8280lbs. Now add 1000lbs plus to the rack of garage doors and your pushing close to 10K. As near as i can tell, if you run a 275/55/20 that has a load rating of 2833 minus the 10% for running duals, the ending load rate is 10,198 across the rear end.

What is your guys input on this?
