The bodywork on the cab, fenders and hood is pretty much done and we are fitting all the pieces now.

Re: 59 fleetside longbed build

We also cut out the center section of the dash and replaced it with a flat panel. We are probably going to put a double din in that spot.

Re: 59 fleetside longbed build

looking good

if you don't need your ashtray... cut it out and all the slide behind it
gives you a lot more room in that area to run wires or ac ducts
i shaved my dash but did not gut the slide and wished i had
i have pulled a lot of skin off on that slide thingy

Re: 59 fleetside longbed build

The cab and and all the other body parts are back at the shop for paint. We stripped down the chassis and it's getting powdercoated now.

The bed is done getting painted and the bed wood is all stained. We also polished out the rails for the bed.

Re: 59 fleetside longbed build

Your truck is come a long way in a "relatively" short time (at least how I measure time when on a build!). Thanks for posting the pictures of the progress. I do have a question, where did you get your dropout battery box - that is one of the next items for me to address on my build.

Thank you for the compliments. The battery box is from Classic Performance Products (CPP) in Orange, CA. Sorry for the late response.

Re: 59 fleetside longbed build

All of the glass is in, despite some modifications to the back window. We also mounted the steering column, shifter and handbrake.

Re: 59 fleetside longbed build

We mounted the core support and radiator. There is one inner fender in right now to check the clearance on the power steering hoses and trans lines that we mounted.

We started the wiring for the engine, trans and the lights up front. We also test fit the intake.
