It spent a LONG time in Texas, then ended up in SC with my uncle, whom sold it to me when I lived in NY, was in NY for 4 years, and has been back in SC for the past 14.

I'm sure that some of us have had knee or hip surgeries, or even a heart transplant in different parts of the country, but we were still born in one place.

With all kidding aside, your truck can pass as being born in multiple parts of the country.

1970 LWB C10 from Tarrytown, NY. From the looks of the cab/bed bottoms it never left the area either.

Hey at least it survived the plant that built it.

Mine was born in St Louis, it traveled to Rapid City SD, and was sold on April 20, '71. The guy owned it for 30 years, they sold it to some friends of ours in Oelrichs, SD. They drove it for a year (beat the crap out of it), and the came went out. They parked it for about 6 years and I bought it for $450

1969 1/2 step side. Mom left it to me after she passed. Told me to keep it stock. It has the original hub caps, 6 cylinder, 3 on the tree. Born in Baltimore, was a lease truck for my Dad's company in Houston. We bought it in 1971 and has been in the family since. It was the first truck I ever drove, working for my Dad. Just starting a long overdue restoration. Going to be passed down to my niece and her husband someday.

I'm curious to see how we would do something like that for the multiple birth places. Maybe base it off of the cab or the frame, the two components that have the serial number on them that can be used to trace their path back to their birth place?

Wanda was built at the Baltimore Assembly (properly named Broening Highway General Motors Plant) was a General Motors factory in Baltimore, Maryland. The plant opened in 1935 to produce Chevrolets and closed on May 13, 2005. It was a two-level plant located near the harbor and railroad lines in Baltimore. She was originally sold through a PA dealership, though best I can tell has spent the majority of her life in Maryland.

My green '70 was born in Fremont and the blue one was born in St. Louis. Blue one was originally sold to my grandfather in central Kansas, and it's never left. In fact, I doubt if it's ever been farther than 100 miles from the farm.

My '72 K2500 was born at the Freemont Plant.

My '67 is being built in Mt. Airy,MD. with parts from all over the country from trucks built in various plants. But,the VIN-plate is also from Freemont...Cab-CA,fenders-KS,doors-CA,grille/core support-NE,hood (louvered)-NH,bedsides-TX,wood floor supports-AZ,Tailgate-OR,Front panel-CA,rear bumper brackets-AL,Front bumper brackets-V,front bumper (smooth)-MI,8" steelies-GA,chassis-FL,engine & buddy buckets-NJ,dual exhaust frame brackets-CAN,and more

I have 2 Fremonts. I am not surprised that there are more Fremont trucks than anywhere else. Trucks were more of a western thang back then. I would guess that St Louis would be next.

I think it would be fun to try to see if any of us have consecutive serial numbers, like someone having the next truck built after or before someone else's.

I agree the western states were more truck (as a driver/car) oriented. More may have been produced there,but certainly more high trim level,4wd,Camper haulers,K/5,A/C,SWB,and even big block. Atlanta would have also produced a higher amount of SWB,high trim level,and/or BBC,because the south was big on their trucks as well. You had the CA car culture and stock car racing in the S/E which generated interest in performance,appearance,as well as sportiness (SWB). The least trucks sold would be where a higher concentration of white collars lived,like Washington,DC. I have rarely seen a Cheyenne Super or CST originally from this area.
But,I figure there's another reason there are more Freemont trucks as well. These were all western trucks that lived their lives where they didn't rust out.

Put me down for one St. Louis and one Fremont. My K10 was built at St. Louis facility and the Longhorn was built at the Fremont Plant. Both trucks spent most spent the most time out west.

( the first 25 owners lived in Winchester Virginia - now, it's only 40 miles from it's "birthplace" )

The second picture was taken in 1970, but the people building the 72 Highlanders, two years later, wouldn't have to walk to far to find some wheel covers in the Baltimore plant, would they !!!
