Sorry I realize now you may be talking about removing and replacing the combination valve, because the combination valve is often called the proportioning valve. It probably is covered in the manual. At first I was thinking about whether it was covered in the manual removing the proportioning valve from the combination valve body.

So many parts I should have bought as spares back in the late 80s when I bought my truck. Just about everything that truck needed over the next few years, I was able to get from my local Chevy dealer at "jobber" price. Many of those parts are no longer available, even from the aftermarket.
