Tommy, it's so hidden I don't see any links to an ad! Or is it even for sale? Could be a nice truck.

Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Pickup?

Something seems a bit fishy about this ad.

For Sale is a 1972 Chevy Pick up with Short Bed. Almost everything is original!
The only thing that has been replaced is rock panels. Has been to body shop for a paint touch up. Still has a couple of nickel sized dents.

-20 Rims
-Needs new tires
-Runs & Drives
-Nothing has been restored
-All information is on tag
-Great condition
-One of door panels is ripped and needs repair

No bidders with less than 50 positive feedback.
Please ask questions before bidding. Serious bidders only!

Is it a highlander ? I was under the impression they all were longbeds and had white color white paint schemes. Correct me if I am wrong here.

Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Pickup?

From the spid its a highlander. I also wouldnt say "not restored", the trim holes are gone and painted over. The floor looks to have rust scale painted over. Im no expert on ochre, but i think the repainted color is wrong. There are alot of thingsof the truck has going for it, but a few that need looked at, double checked and gone over...

I vote jocko goes and looks at it for us! Just kidding

This was listed last night on our local craigslist, he also has the 72 c10 in the background listed together with it.

Could be had as shortbed, though rare, and in whatever color the buyer wanted. At least one member has a swb one - and it's a 402 I believe.

Im sure thinkin about it! Ha. The more I look at the condition, I'm a little wary. Looks to be a complete repaint to me. And I think the tires will all simultaneously explode if I drive onto my property with those wheels. Ok, maybe a bit strong - but they don't look right on there at stock ride height. My 2c. Restored, would be a VERY nice truck (I might accidentally forget to put PA1 caps ok it though...), but I better stick with my lwb white one!

Highlander trim could be had in C10-30 Fleetsides (all three wheelbases and bed lengths), 4x2 and 4x4 Blazers as well as C10-20 Suburbans.

While there were recomended combinations any exterior color is possible and "special paint" Highlanders have been documented.

C10 SWB Highlanders are not seen often but they are out there.

In this case I have to agree with the seller.
Nothing appears to have been "restored", however just about everything does appear to have been modified or jacked with to some extent. The color looks off to me as well and with all that overspray one has to wonder just what kind of "bodyshop" has be involved.

Without a doubt it could be a nice, stock looking, truck again but it is going to take work and money.

Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Pickup?

i have one of the SWB c10 highlanders that you guys have referenced. and i agree they are a bit more rare than the LWB trucks. and it is supposed to be the ochre and white. i can see the original paint in the cab on the roof liner where they failed to prep correctly when it was repainted white. and all my trim holes have been filled and covered which will be fun to fix. ill just add it to the list.

Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Pickup?

SMS does and Tim (Truckseats) can stitch it up. The challenge is getting correct scroll debossed parchment vinyl for the highlander setup - but Tim can help coord with SMS to do this. In the end, SMS had to make the vinyl pieces and provide the plaid - but for some reason they haven't traditionally married the two to market a highlander seat cover. That's where Tim came in to help me out. SMS hinted that they get a lot of requests for this, and might someday mfgr the cover, but don't think they have to date. Took a lot of coordination, but it was worth it.

Cheapest price I have found so far is $650.00. That is a little more than I would like to pay since my seat has been already covered and needs cleaning. Name: interior.jpg
