Re: 1981 Chevrolet C50 Pick-up Conversion

UPNADM, if you want to try a dealer the part number for the chrome Chevrolet grille is 02001142.[/QUOTE]

Thanks for the number, tried it locally and appears to be no stock/unavailable.

Re: 1981 Chevrolet C50 Pick-up Conversion

Keep an eye on eBay, sometimes I see NOS medium duty truck parts pop up, and often the prices are reasonable, not sure the shipping would cheap, but it may be worth a look.

I think the blue is out. Mentioned it to the co-pilot and I got the barn yard gawk sideways. Ha.

A little off topic, is anyone going to be at the SEMA Show next week?

I was planning on going but money issues kind of stopped that.

Mike Losh who's here on the forum is going to be there with his truck Square Peg, and I've heard of a couple other forum memebers are going to be there. I've heard it's a one of a kind show.

Would love to go no doubt!

Re: 1981 Chevrolet C50 Pick-up Conversion

So I am in Vegas for SEMA and I am killing time yesterday drivng around the back streets and saw a lot of things that caught my eye.

But this was truely bad ass. Its got me thinking. I wish we had solid metal like this in the north.

Wow.....that would make a great project. Living in the rust belt myself I'm really jealous of all the rust free trucks in the south west

Re: 1981 Chevrolet C50 Pick-up Conversion

As previously mentioned, I am pulling my Son's school Christmas Float in the Santa Clause Parade. With that in mind, I had to get a hitch for the truck. My cousin was kind enough to give me a hand to fab up a new hitch.

He filled, welded and smoothed my hitch as well as a hole that was previously in the bumper.

Looks great!

A little grinding and some paint, and a great finished product!

Now to put the bumper back together...

Re: 1981 Chevrolet C50 Pick-up Conversion

Our local parade was today.

The C50 was able to pull my son's float, and add to the theme of "Toyland".

A first place float for Queen Victoria Public School.

I did not have the only eye catching square in the parade... check out the photos.

Just got another quick question. What size are the wheels and tires on your truck?

Re: 1981 Chevrolet C50 Pick-up Conversion

This may not be everyone's cup of tea, but I have always liked them.

I just got in an 8 light 160 watt strobe light kit. I a looking forward to getting it mounted.

I plan on mounting 4 lights in the rear and 4 up front. The 4 in the rear will be in the back up lights and in the lights in the bumper.

Up front not too sure yet.

Would like to find a way to get 2 of them in the headlights.

Where did you get your kit from? I was thinking of a pair for my square.

I ordered them from hdcautosports on ebay. Fortunately for me I bench tested this kit before I installed it as unfortunatley they did not work.

With a bit of a run around they have been returned. I am currently looking for a new vendor.

Re: 1981 Chevrolet C50 Pick-up Conversion

I love strobe lights!!! I'm going to put some on my truck too!!

My suggestion on the fronts what a buddy of mine did on his was drilled a hold into the headlight and mounted it like that, or maybe what you could do is mount some "day time running lights" in the front bumper and mount them in there?

Re: 1981 Chevrolet C50 Pick-up Conversion

There are some 7" round H4 conversion lenses that have a second smaller bulb for signal/indicator use. What all bulb sizes are available for the strobes?

For instance, both of these Hellas accept a 124 bulb in addition to the primary H4.

Re: 1981 Chevrolet C50 Pick-up Conversion

Well so much for the strobes... Thought I should test them out before I install. Glad I did. The box powers up, but no flash.

That sucks. So far I have not got the answer I am looking for from the ebay company.

Re: 1981 Chevrolet C50 Pick-up Conversion

Got a little something in the mail today...

Special thanks again to 83GMCK2500 for putting me onto this.

Now I need to get the grill finished with the black inserts.

Just temporarily put this bowtie on my grille. I think it is a nice addition and will look great when its all done.
