Yes it will a little bit, wipe up the excess with a paper towel. Just don't let it sit on the engine long.

Re: Starting my engine build

Well I played with the timing a little more and wound up advancing it a little more. At 16* initial BTDC it runs really good. Pulls hard and sounds great while idling, but the biggest difference was the low rpm torque it gained and good throttle response. It doesn't diesel when I shut it down, and it quit lunging forward when I put it in gear from park which is awesome.

I guess that means the engine and trans build are done We are working on getting wifi at our new house (it's out in the woods pretty far) and then I'll be able to post up some videos.

After taking it for a nice long drive I realize the suspension and brakes need some help, and some new tires wouldn't hurt either. The rear end is still stock and I have plans to get an Eaton tru trac with 3.73's at least, depending on tire size. I'm gonna have to come up with a name for this project that's for sure

Thank you guys very much for all the help along the way. I could never have done this without this site and all the guys on it, greatly appreciated

Matt

Re: Starting my engine build

Good to see you got it tuned and running.
Good experience for the next round in a couple months when the outside temp starts to sky rocket.
You'll be tweaking your timing and carb again.
Carbs don't like heat and your present timing might be too high.
You'll need to experiment.

Timing is such a touchy thing. I went from one end of the spectrum to the other and drove it a few times in between, and man what a difference it can make. I'll be ready for the warmer weather thanks for the help
