Re: 85 burb meets 6.0 lq4

its great DT can fit so many trucks, and that they keep them from going below the frame rails. But if I'm understanding this right... sub'ing in a mid-length header in place of a long tube...just so that they can cover numerous years/models/configs of truck with just one header....shame on you DT!

To be honest I was planning on swapping my Dynatechs out for a set of these to get the complete 3" system within the frame rails. Not so sure now...will need to see more on these installed in a truck with my setup.

Somehow....I feel like DT took a back step with the '67-'72 guys!

How are you liking the radiator? I noticed a little puddle under my truck today so maybe it is time to follow suit...

Did you get your exhaust installed?

I do love the radiator. I replaced mine after i seen tiny bubbles coming from a seam where the tank meets the core.

No have to save the money for the exhaust and i will be saving for a while...... It is going to cost a ton to do the exhaust but i know the guy and he comes highly recomended. He will spend about 15 hours on it he thinks. I have been told his exhasts are works of art. I can not wait!

Re: 85 burb meets 6.0 lq4

must be the bean counters.....otherwise why would a company drop a product that they already developed and selling.... to go to a 1 7/8" "one design fits all" that covered more applications....but not all power plants. There are a lot of 5.3 swaps out there DT, 4.8's too... that need a 1 5/8" tube header.

My guess is the fit isn't as good with a 'one size fits all design' either. Some companies just don't get it

Re: 85 burb meets 6.0 lq4

Holy cow...... I never want to do that again. They fit but not so good with my mounts. I had to move the engine about a half inch forward. And "adjust" the pinch weld. But they fit. They look great installed. I never want to put number 8 plug in. Here is the really nice s bend that is about 1.5 inch diamiter in someplaces. And a really great weld job done at one of the "good" exhaust shops.

Re: 85 burb meets 6.0 lq4

I was going to do a "test" fit. That all went to the crapper when the nut inside the frame would not move and i made it and it lost the threads... Also had to cut the pipes off to see if the headers fit. Oh well. Now to just get them welded to rest of exhaust for now. Then the big bad ass exhasut. I do have to say it sounds amazing. Only ran it for a sec cause my o2 sensors were not reading anything. Said way lean. Hope i can baby it to exhaust shop.

Dirtydingo mounts. They are adjustable. I had motor way far back i guess. I dont know how to weld and i am sure i can do better. I was told he is the best welder around. That is why i am gone spend lots getting the 3 inch done really nice.

Re: 85 burb meets 6.0 lq4

1000? Looks like over 1600 to me?

and like WOW.....even I can weld better then that!

headers look great. looks like you had to come in from the top?
how do they fit underneath?

buy like a flowmaster universal kit in galvanized steel. or s.s., your choice. BTW...this has an "H" pipe which is good, or even better find a x-pipe version if you have the room. X -pipe cured a torque loss in my C3 after putting 2.5" true duals on it. even sounded better.
Put it together with either cheap clamps and take it to get welded later...or do it permanently with band clamps. All you need is a saw/cut off and a file or something to clean things up to slide together easier. Just choose the mufflers you'd like to run. For me, I prefer a turbo muffler type (Magnaflow vs a chambered (Flowmaster) muffler. I'd go at least 2.5" pipe for duals....or 3" if you've got the room and like a deeper tone. How far back do you plan to go, all the way out below the rear bumper? Or out the sides behind the rear tires?

Flowmaster/815937

I bought the galv. then found the s.s was only a few bucks more.

Re: 85 burb meets 6.0 lq4

The 1000 posts was on this thread. Yes they both dropped in from the top. They fit very well underneth. The would clear trans ear if i had not already halked it off to fit f-body headers. Clears trans link great. Passenger side is real close to the schakel but looks like it will clear. With old 350 my headers hit the schakels. I am not gona try a do it my self kit. It will come out bad. I just know it. Hope i can make it to the exhaust shop to get them connected with out a ticket due to blowing the hole test fit thing.....

Re: 85 burb meets 6.0 lq4

How far can do you have to go? Can you make your EFI run open loop since your O2 sensor isn't installed? I can check a box with my holley system and it will just use the fuel map and not adjust for actual O2 in exhaust... If not you might have a heck of a time keeping it running if it pours the fuel to it once it warms up and tries to go into closed loop operation.

Installed collecters and o2 sensors read now some atleast. It is running way way way rich. It pounds the cheast pretty good too. One of my favorite feelings.
