Re: Project 67 DRGNWGN - 67 Burban!!

got a little done this past week. decided not to run my bags over the axle for now. i cut it all out and moved them back to the trailing arms. i bought some new shocks..believe are from a 96 turd f150. they are long as hell but have nearly 10" travel so they work. also got my fuel lines ran and clamped.

I have some leftover Porterbuilt hinge parts if it would help you build some hood hinges.
You would have to fab the hood plates and get your own hardware.
I’ll sell them cheap.

thanks for the offer keith... a year and a half ago I would've jumped on these. problem is these grant hinges get welded in, so I kinda have to make them work now.

thank you.

i got started on trying to get the hood struts mounted...but the weather wouldnt cooperate. i started off with a steel bushing and welding a nut on each end to thread the top of the strut too. well, these struts will not collapse by hand, and where i wanted to weld the top attatchment wouldnt work. so i had to extend the bracket out by welding another pipe to it. still, it wouldnt reach. i had to weld a third pipe but didnt like the open look of the pipe ends. so i made some little sheetmetal pieces to weld over it. hope it doesnt look too janky. going to try and make the other side tomorrow and tack it to the hood to see if they work out.

ps, get some pb hinges...this is too much work lol.

Re: Project 67 DRGNWGN - 67 Burban!!

nothing exciting but i got the harness fully in (minus the battery connections to the battery). i havent decided really where the pcm, fuse block, and tac module will mount just yet. have to work on getting the battery tray in and hopefully some inner fenders mounted. also been throwing grounds left and right and everywhere in between lol. have 2 from the engine to frame (one on each side), 2 front cab to frame. battery to frame. battery to engine. middle of the truck has 2 body to frame grounds (one on each side). when the tray comes in i will make a radiator to frame ground...and also waiting on a ground bus bar which will mount to the rear of the frame and ground my fuel pump, rear body to frame, and also rear tail lights. yes, i know its a lot of grounds.

lol, well im hoping i wont run in to anything once the truck is wired but we all know how these builds go.....

i had some time today after work before we head out of town for the weekend. got the obd2 port extended and wired in. mine was a 5 wire plug. purple, green, 2 black, and an orange. i tied the blacks in together, cut the purple (was pin 14), and ran pin 2 (green) to the data wire in the pcm (purple wire). and of course orange to 12v constant. also got the pedal plug extended and pluged to the tac module which will also go under the hood. the random wires hanging through the dash is the tach wire, check engine light wires, tcc wire for the brake switch, and the vss wire for the speedo

Really like your ground straps, nice job. As far as people commenting on your progress dont assume folks arent looking. I think a lot of us check out a ton of builds without commenting.

I resemble that remark. I do a lot of looking without saying a word. I make progress without making a comment also.

Re: Project 67 DRGNWGN - 67 Burban!!

i bought some generic grommets off amazon and ran the wires through the existing holes in the firewall, this way i will only have to drill one big hole for the engine compartment wires from the main harness that is getting wired next week. also a couple of pics of my little harness plugs i made. one goes from the engine harness into the dash for the obd2 wires and dash wires. the other loom in the background is the pedal wire going from the tac to the pedal inside. last couple of pics is the ground block i made for the back. frame to ground block. body to ground block. and so far fuel pump grounded. when its time for the taillights, the last 2 suds will be for those.

lol, well you guys keep peeking in. i been working on wiring lately, i have a thread over in the electrical section for guidance and for the pros to chime in to make sure im doing it right! hate wiring but im getting a MUCH better understanding of how this stuff works. so far i have the rear wired up (tail lights, reverse lights, grounds), wiper switch, headlight switch, cig lighter, and brake switch done. heading to the beach tomorrow so hopefully on the monday the 4th ill be back at it. looking to get the fuel pump harness done and start tackling my guage cluster...not looking forward to that at all

Re: Project 67 DRGNWGN - 67 Burban!!

little progress but i got my column back from being rebuilt by Les (70shortfleet). looks amazing! got a few things wired and made a power panel under the dash. the left power strip is wired for 12 volt power. middle 2 post is for battery power. right strip is grounds. just in case i want to add some things, i have an easy spot to tap in. also got my LMC dash pad in...fits great, bought it 10 years ago and has been on my shelf the entire time. i know, im random as hell. im waiting on a harness adapter to come in to get the column wired up. its getting there.

oh! also im getting my cluster together. i went with the s10 speedo mod, camaro tach mod, and mid 80s clock. also the ammeter gauge is actually a battery gauge. still some work to do on it, but its coming along.
