Thanks Mark. Camaro's are much easier to restore. You can build a complete car from a catalog. Plus there where only so many different configurations. These trucks restores are tough. I have a lot of respect for you truck guys now that I had started my own 67 4x4 restore.

We started working the CFI issue, did you have to take the test? Army has Instrument Examiners (which im not) so I don't know if i'd get the CFII...

we only have 2' of snow right now!

I did both. I was our Standardization guy that gave Instructors their checkrides. I even had to certify all of our Sim instructors before they could begin instructing (and now the ba##%#$ won't even give me a job, ). You have to take a 125 question test ($100) and then have the FAA examiner review your log book and designations (another $100). ONLY 2' of snow........ and here I've been whining about the 30-40 degree temps...

We've had some pretty good winds to go along with the "cold", . I've got almost 500 hrs of instrument time and I've probably done a 100 or so instrument checkrides...

Re: 68 K-10 SWB build thread - project Money Pit...pics galore!

that's where the Navy and Army differ...

As an IP, I am allowed to train Instruments and evaluate for initial RL progression, but the annual evaluation must be done by an Instrument Examiner...

did you buy a study guide for the exam?

You have to jump through a bunch of hoops before the Navy will let you do it. You have to become a Standardization pilot, which requires a certain number of hours and flight experience. I did a 5 hour "gouge" session ($200) before taking the exam, but the study guide would probably work just as well. I had a chance to get my ATP a few year back using a Navy helicopter, but for some dumb reason didn't......

I still have 8 years so i'll knock it out sometime... I'm sitting at 1400hrs and plan for 2000 by then, shouldn't be an issue to find a flying job... wouldn't mind staying with my unit as a contractor.

no school tomorrow for the kids either...

My wife is from Watertown, so snow is nothing to her of course... growning up, her school would only be cancelled if the superintendents dog wouldn't go pee in the morning! She only remembers school being closed a few times...

Congrats on the promotion Mike.

With that much snow I'm surprised you didn't fire up the John Deere.

Come on you guys all of this snow is from the "Global Warming"! We are getting hammered with the blowing snow. You know how high our over hang on the barn is Mike and it is half gone.

Congrats on the promotion!

Congrats Mike. Oh that snow brings back some PA and Northern Japan memories. They have us targeted for 1" tomorrow night. We'll close the state then.

I got rid of the john deere blower since it was single stage and had troubles making it up the driveway... The snapper was from my wife's late grandmother, little sucker doesn't stop....

it's usually warmer when it snows this much so clearing it out isn't that bad... come on up for a visit!

Man you guys did get a lot of the white crap. And I have to agree those old snapper snow throwers are hard core! I used to use one on our driveway when I was a lad for years. Our driveway drifts really bad every time it snows, and it is 600yds long just to the house. That poor bugger saw many hours of abuse/use.

We just got an inch of snow and my son's basketball game was cancelled as a result!

Congrats on the promotion Mike. In my experience the BN S3 is the brains of the outfit and the one who makes it all come together.

Re: 68 K-10 SWB build thread - project Money Pit...pics galore!

My brother-in-law lived on tug hill,,, that is insane in the winter.. 6-10 ft (not drifts) easily...

once again the bix box parts stores hire only idiots! I asked if they had a basic air cleaner spacer... of course his first reaction was "what year is this for?" as he goes to his computer... I pointed to the stack og Holley carbs behind him and said, "it fits that"... CLUELESS!

looks like i'll be ordering from summit today, they have them for $3...

I also had the water pump blasted when they coated the rad support, going to heat the garage up to 65 and shoot some engine primer and chevy orange.

It snowed in Conroe twice in 20+ years.

If they think it is going to snow they let school out.

I have seen the freeway blocked by families taking cardboard and sliding down the overpasses. Some people have never seen it.

Funny, this month's classic trucks or custom classic trucks (one of them) addressed that very issue in the ed column. Isn't it funny how you can go into an old parts store and you can just give a half of a lame description of a part you need and they walk in the back and come out with exactly what you need? Yet when you go to a chain store you have to go back 3 times before you get the right thing and you can give them an exact part name and description and they look at you like you have 2 heads.
