The front tyres are 235/75/15 I am keeping them as I only got them about 6 months before I took if off the road . I may end up having to flip them around , as if I run the 275/60/15 that are on the rear at the moment , they don't do them in skinny white walls like the front ones . I might end up going 265/70/15 on the rear I still haven't made up my mind yet.

235/70/15 = Overall diameter: 710 mm

235/75/15 = Overall diameter: 734 mm

275/60/15 = Overall diameter: 711 mm

265/70/15=. Overall diameter: 752 mm

Hope that helps Paul

Rolling chassis looks great, nicely detailed. The wide slots was a good find.

Re: Martin's mi-STRESS, 1965 Long Fleetside C10 "Rebuild in ENGLAND"

Well not much done on the truck this weekend . I did get something done to help with the build though.

As most of you know it's always been a struggle for space for me , building these trucks due to there size . Well the other week I saw a concrete bolt together garage on eBay , so I put in a bid at the last minute , and won it for £2.20 about $4 .

So this is where the fun begins the roof on these old garages is made of concrete with a 5% mix of asbestos . So after some checking and speaking to one of Rian's friend Keith who works in demolition , it was time to speak to the seller and say I couldn't remove the roof . She then called me back a day later , to say she would arrange for it to be removed by specialists.

So on Saturday morning , I hooked up my neighbors trailer , and headed down to a cafe that was just down the road from the lady's house . There I had arranged to meet a friend Stephen , who was going too give me a hand . So while we were eating breakfast I got a call from the lady to say the specialist had finished removing the roof

Once at the house we were joined by Rian who had offered to help as well .

The strip down

Half way there

Rian showing he can hold the end wall up with no hands

The roof trusses with all the cross braces removed . The next job will be to clean them up and paint them ready for the assembly

And last of all this is the shed that will be replaced by the garage . It's a foot wider so I will remove the shed and extend the concrete base ready for the shed when the weather improves.

Who you gonna call.... ???

Shed Busters... !!!

I think the rebuild will be a lot easier than the deconstruction.

Fresh nuts, bolts n screws.

And at least we will have the right tools on site and someone who can use woodwork tools

I get a feeling of DejaVu.

It was really great to get the truck back on the road again, its been some time.

Martin's truck earning its keep.

We were done with the roof after dark, and by 5pm I was on the road home again.

Every time I drive my truck it leaves a HUGE SMILE on my face.

The cost of fueling it up, disappears with the sound of that V8 rolling down the road.

Looking forward to the new year and getting the body and paint sorted.

It's always great when friends help . For those that have read my thread Stephen is from my bike club . He's the one who also helped put the engine in the little Ford Ka . Colin who welded my ally tank and Rian's exhaust is Stephen's partner Zoe's Dad . We all help each other .

Re: Martin's mi-STRESS, 1965 Long Fleetside C10 "Rebuild in ENGLAND"

Well I still have a nasty cough but at least I don't feel so rough .

I haven't got anything done on the truck but I did do a bit on the Harley . My MOT is due and there are a few jobs that I needed to do . One was fix the rear brake light switch . The other job was I wanted to change the front lower front fork legs and upgrade the fork springs with progressive ones . I also wanted to change the rear end to the later v rod rear end I have had for a while

How it was

Stripped down

Front removed

Rear end changed

So all being well I should be back working on the truck in a couple of weeks as I will be collecting my prop shaft from Andy at the swop meet on the 20th of March .

Yes I have to work on Saturday 3rd one in 9years at this job we are so busy it's madness. Swop meet on Sunday so I will be picking up my propshaft off Andy (Uber Cool) . Bike looks great. hope it passed the test. from talking to you and others in England that MOT inspection is tough and has a lot more requirements than the ones over here. Here its… lights-check, wipers-check, OK, good to go. Arkansas dropped the inspection process all together because the actual shops doing the inspection would have to spend to much time and made like 2 bucks. slowly there were fewer shops willing to work for nothing, go figure. i think Texas still has inspections but i don't think many other states do anymore.

It will be good to see you back on the truck… what did you get at the swap meet?

Clem they have inspections in NC and they check a lot more stuff here .
and if your check engine light is on you cant get a license plate ..
inspection costs $30 add $10 if you have tint on your windows .

Re: Martin's mi-STRESS, 1965 Long Fleetside C10 "Rebuild in ENGLAND"

Thanks Clem . Yes it did pass it helps when the MOT inspector has a 59 Chevy truck . Let's just say I should have fitted the full size number plate and the standard exhaust get it tested and then come home and swap it all back over and that's every year unless you know the MOT guy (but I never said the last bit )

60chevyjim if you have any of the warning lights on then it's a fail over here too . The cost is £30 about $50 for a bike mot test

Thanks donny it's a lot of hard work keeping it looking good

Well the swop meet was ok I got a few parts for the truck

Notice the missing part

Problem solved after meeting up with Andy (uber cool )

I also got a heater matrix and a thermostat housing

I also picked up some grease , some. Autosol and a polishing wheel for the drill

Owning a Harley you use a lot of autosol , and at some point I need to polish the slot mags so the buffing wheel should help .
