No longer in the Army - got out in 2000 after 7 years of service. I am a US Contractor now working here in Afghanistan.

Guard/Reserves are a good way to go for the college money - want my Son to go that route to!

Not a whole lot to report this week unfortunately... Keven got tied up in the main shop for most of it.

He did manage to get most of the wiring done in the bulkhead connector as you can see - loving how he's labeling everything - gonna make life a LOT easier down the road!!!

He ran hard lines for the brakes - from the prop valve down to frame, but they looked like crap & think we're gonna shoot for using some BrakeQuip flex hoses instead - he'll get some ordered next week.

Still no word from Mario yet on the headers - know he's busy with the move & all, but starting to get a little worried about them...

Here's what he did with the brake lines - YUCK!!! Even Keven didn't like it & he installed it....

Looking to go with something like what's in the second pic - stole it from "The Ayatollah" build thread - hope he doesn't mind!!!

Pretty sure we'll go with black hose though to better match the other hoses & then get some billet clamps & stuff to clean up the look a little better.

I feel it would be a lot cleaner if you put the prop valve down on the frame and hardlined down to it.

Well, we thought about going that route to keep it a little cleaner, but the issue I had was that where it's at makes it QUITE a bit easier to actually adjust it for rear brake bias.

Besides, it's a pretty decent looking valve, so not like I gotta hide it from view. Remember, that bottom pic is NOT my valve - mine is the Wilwood version in the top pic.

Wasn't sure of the safety of colored flex lines. Then you posted the spec sheet. For some reason some companies sell non-DOT air lines for truck air brakes that are pretty but fail. Yours look good and are DOT compliant!

Yep, that was the VERY first thing I researched when I started looking for the lines - didn't want anything that wasn't safe for daily use. Keven will do all the ordering next week for the parts he needs.

Ya know after today it is really refreshing to see that post. After talking to a truck owner at a car show who said it was worth it to chose the truck over his family I was pretty sick. Beautiful family you have there!

All I can say is that in my opinion, that "owner" is an IDIOT..... This truck's gonna be great, but if I didn't know I was gonna have my wife in the seat next to me & family there when I show it - it wouldn't be worth a darn to me!

Man your truck is nice. I can not believe some one would choose a truck over his family. Yeah my wife does not like to drive my crew but she also has a new Impala to drive. My kids love the truck and like to come to the shop when I work on it and take rides in it.

my wife hates the old trucks so its kinda a toss up. it shouldnt bother her that much she has a new sorento to drive. i wouldnt choose it over her just put up a big pout session.

Luckily I have a VERY, VERY understanding wife that allows me to complete my dream for this truck (and put up with every other project I've ever had...)!!! She's constantly got a new vehicle though - but she does enjoy riding with me in my old trucks too!

All I can say is that having a square-body mid-life crisis is MUCH better than me having an affair!!! Hehe ;-)

I agree with these sentiments, I am lucky enough to have a wife that shares my interest in classic vehicles. Sometimes too much, she has claimed my 78 and my 01, and has told me if I sell either of them, she goes with them. What does that say when your wife chooses your truck over you?

So, I had today off work and I decided to head over the Sierra to WFO to pick up my rear axle and other various parts. I went over your truck fairly closely and I hope you don't mind me giving my opinion, especially since you are across the globe and only have photos and communication from the WFO guys to go off of.*

My opinion is that their work is far beyond good work, the extreme attention to detail on everything is on par with what I would expect from myself! The electrical is a huge portion of your truck and the way WFO is making every circuit is amazing! Not only labeling each individual wire, but making every single harness and bulkhead fully accessible and fully removable for not only future maintenance but for the paint guy to remove for painting. The guys are doing such an amazing job I literally have nothing bad to say!*

The only thing I don't get, which is basically personal preference on your part, is why you would opt for an extensive aftermarket electrical accessory system re-wire which is consuming a ton of time. Since there was a perfectly good OEM accessory harness available with all factory parts from the donor 1991 Suburban, you could have saved a lot of time, a lot of labor, and had a cleaner end look. My opinion is that the aftermarket switches are cheesy and just not era correct, but I also do not know what the current plan for your interior is going to be, so I may be completely off base in my opinion...

The last thing is, why run the Holley intake on your truck? You know the stock plastic truck LS2 or L92 intakes produce a better low/mid torque curve and you are actually going to lose power on a heavy truck with that intake...just a thought. LS engines are my main forte.

Either way, your truck is in great hands and WFO truly is working to get you the finest product they can offer and they are trying to get it finished in a timely (for the level of the project) manner. I sense in some of your posts that you may have some irritation toward the length of time they have had your truck under the knife, which is why I want you to know that I think it will all be worth it and a project of this magnitude really can't be held to a standard schedule of construction.
