What is the different between a single and dual brake booster kit?? And which size is the best choice??

Would be kind from you to get some help

Yours Robin

PS: I Have a disc/drum-combination on my truck.
A single would be for drum/drum set ups, someone can correct me if I am wrong. I believe you would want a dual resevior setup for disc/drum applications.

Are you going to mount the master cylinder on the firewall or under the cab?

Re: My 1954 Chevy PickUp-truck

Try Yogi's, Performance On Line, and Jims's GMC parts. I have ordered from the first two because they had the best prices on what I needed. I am looking at Jims for my cab rubber and I think hes a site sponsor. Just noticed POL has a link at the top of the page I am on.

Re: My 1954 Chevy PickUp-truck

Things must have different with POL 18 months ago. I saw the auction on ebay, called, asked some questions, hit buy it now on ebay, paid with paypal and had my tank in 10 days.

Maybe this site owner could contact them as an advetiser and tell them problems with contacting them to spend money is showing up in the message boards???

Love the thread just subscribed. Speedwaymotors.com is a great company and the prices are good in my opinion. I have bought a ton of parts from them when I was racing.

Re: My 1954 Chevy PickUp-truck

Hello again...

..today i give a question to all of you:
Would it be possible to get some pictures of your trucks hood fitting?

Yesterday i was at the bodywork and i / they get a BIG problem:
After assemble the front of the car the hood doesnīt fit exactly - means that the hood collide with the fenders in the frontest position (sideways to the hood latch cover / behind grill). I think the hood should fall "through" the fenders with a little gap but i canīt go wider with the fenders because of grill and radiator-support fittment. So what to do now??? How does it look at your truck? Have you got the same Problems?

The next big problem on the hood is, that the sheetmetal ending in front of the windscreen / cowl vent is very flexible...so also here: Can you please send me some photos from yours cowl inside in this area? Isnīt there any reinforcement?

I hope you understood all of my stupid english - sorry for that bad arranged words.

Regards from germany,
yours (frustrated) Robin ...waiting for your help/pictures/constructive words

Re: My 1954 Chevy PickUp-truck

There was a thread a while back about AD hood fitmet issues. Consensus seemed to be that the angle of the cab, front to back, affected the hood fitment. It was also suggested that the cab-hood-radiator support be fitted first and the fenders aligned with the hood. If you do a site search for FAQ there is a thread on panel alignment too. Good luck.

Re: My 1954 Chevy PickUp-truck

OrrieG hit the nail on the head. The cab "tilt" has a big roll in alignment of the front clip. I had a hard time with it. A few people have told me that our hoods are the hardest in the hot rod world to align.

Re: My 1954 Chevy PickUp-truck

Hey Robin , Tight is right and here are some pics for you. You certainly can not slam this hood down on mine anyway. I push it down to the safety latch and then look at both sides and shove it down. Mine is a 55 1st series ,same as yours only a tad newer.
Notice the bevel on the hood and fenders at the front? So it seems to me it was intended to wedge it self into place. I believe it was a intentional design for it's era.
When you say cowl area do you mean the hood?

Hi OrrieG,

at first: Thanks a lot for your help again!!

Iīve found the website with the panel alignment:
http://stovebolt.com/techtips/bodywo...alignment.html

..but i donīt find the first thread you wrote about. Can you or the other members here in perhaps help me to find this thread?? The measurements you wrote about would be so helpful for me.

Would be kind to get your help again....

Robin,
I don't have any pictures to show you. Besides the tilt of the cab, It seems that your entire front end sheet metal needs to move forward a little. 5 or 6mm (3/16 inch) would make a big difference.

Re: My 1954 Chevy PickUp-truck

Merry Christmas to you too. It is looking good, the photos show just how much variance there was from the factory between the different panels. 60 years ago the farmers and tradesman just wanted the doors and hood to stay closed!

Re: My 1954 Chevy PickUp-truck

I mocked up the front fenders the other day and had to shim the core support to the inner fenders by a 1/8" on each side to get the grille to fit.
The hood has not been removed from the factory setting and it fit good before I changed the frame, still fitting parts !!
Good Luck on your mock up it is always the "FUN" part of the build !!!

Wishing all a Merry Christmas !!

Re: My 1954 Chevy PickUp-truck

funny thing that with dealing with american companies from overseas , for some reason im getting the impression that some of them use the overseas orders to dump there damaged stuff or stuff they have laying on the shelves but dont fit because they know we cant return it as eazy .
i ordered lugnuts for a '77 1 ton chevrolet dually pickup and got wheelnuts for a toyota and they cant see there the wrong ones .....
i do understand that some companies are weary for anything abroad , i got a mail from africa once too with text like do i have the deal for you friend .
yes stuff is more expensive so we apreciate it a lot more if we got the right part the first time around if the company or its employees run the extra mile to insure we get our goods right the first time customers will come , you be suprized how many european carnuts ask on european fora's for info on better partsuplyers for american parts than those they have now .
i know that a lot of the american cars running here are a mix match made out of different part so its logical that some parts dont fit but i haven't gotten a good part yet ..... or sumtin that resembles a GM part for that matter
the only reason i would at times wish i lived in the states is to be able to find parts in every junkyard and being able to go back to o reily when sumtin doesnt fit to exchange it and the wide open space yo have there

sorry for the rant but i had some realy bad encounters with some american companies that didnt kept to there word even after paying the full price and only started moving after i whent there to stir things up
