Re: "One really slow build" thread

Well it's been a while, but I finally got er on the road

I have some little tinkery things I need to do to er, but it's on the road so I'm happy

I'll still be updating every so often, as there are plenty of things I want to do to it

New headlights

before

after

As it is today

Re: "One really slow build" thread

Nice job on the throttle cable bracket. I have a extra new return spring to replace that old rusty one I see on that beautiful looking motor, I would be more than happy to let you have and I'll even pay for the shipping. On a more serious note, your project is looking good and will be waiting to see the finished version. Keep on Truckin

Lookin' good... now you just need to fix your altitude problem! How do you like the tri-bar headlights? they look pretty cool

Re: "One really slow build" thread

Thanks for the comps

I like the tri-bars a lot, I put some brighter bulbs in (90 low / 100 high) that have a little blue tint to em
But when the lights are on they don't shine blue
My drivers side headlight bucket is messed up, or the wrong one because it tilts the headlight over to one side

Oh and shootfirst, I'm good on the spring I'll prolly be getting a new one and a Lokar cable

Re: "One really slow build" thread

Well I've been driving it around quite a bit since I got er on the road & I really like it except it's geared too low (or something)

I thought it had 3:08's but I must be wrong
I have 29" tires, a 400 trans & I'm run'n 2600 RPM's at 60 MPH

We have a 93 3/4 ton with a blown up 6.5 td / NV-4500 (as far as I know, thats what the trans is)
So I may put that in my truck fairly soon

It's just my luck that I get it on the road & want / need to change something

So I'm gonna check & see what gears I have when I go to the shop again

Re: "One really slow build" thread

This is what it looks like now

The pink was marker paint for the ground, & didn't look that good up close

Well I still am going to have to do something different, to get better mileage
I like to cruise, but only when I want to
It'd be nice to go 70 without killing the wallet

Re: "One really slow build" thread

truck looks good...on the windsheild wiper holes for the foriegn trucks,,,would a wiper mtor from a car work to get them to work that way...wasnt there a buick or pontiac, from the 80's or 90's that had the wipers working like that..

and are your cherry bombs louder than the long round ones..

i like that tool tray you built...i need something like that, im always dropping tools down the front...

great project.

If the "long ones" you're referring to are glasspacks, then I would say yes & they sound way better

Yeah, I love that tray I just need to finish it & bolt it on

Re: "One really slow build" thread

Ok, I've backed off the wanting to switch trannys for a while

But I need to rebuild my front end, so while I'm at it I'm gonna bag the truck

I was hang'n out with my uncle today & we went to a salvage yard, there was this totaled Dodge Neon ricer thingy that I looked in just to see if the was a stereo left in it (one busted 10" sub)
Anywho, I get to the back of it & what do I see ???
A chrome 3 gal. tank & 4 solenoids picked them up dirt cheap and when I asked the guy what happened to the compressor & he told me he took it out so he could put it on his roll-back truck Hope he knows the aren't meant to run really long periods of time
The sad thing is that this kid put a but-load of money into his ricer so that comp. was prolly an expensive one, Oh well

I think at first I'm not gonna run a compressor, just to get it going

Re-6's in front & Re-7's out back, home made notch & reverse lower A-arm cups & buy the upper plate and bags from Suicide Doors

I'm so freak'n excited

Re: "One really slow build" thread

I guess I could post this weeks progress huh

I was tired of the 4x4 look, so I heated my rear coils & dropped it

Before

After

It looks like its higher in the front, but it still has rake

I also moved my stupid fuel-cell

The way the PO had it installed

New location, but just "temped in"

I also plan to put a floor in my bed, if I have enough money left

Re: "One really slow build" thread

These are the valves I got

eBay link http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/AIR-R...spagenameZWDVW

Is anyone on here running them ???
Are they any good ???

Unfortunately he didn't use the valve manifold that came with em, so the install won't be quite as nice as it would be with it

Re: "One really slow build" thread

Those bags will be badass... and I agree with grease monkey, paint the cowl the same purple color If you want to lower the front temporarily just cut a coil or two out of the spring...? You should get the front aligned but thats not a whole wad of cash. My buddy was running close to 6" of drop in the rear with heated coils... no suspension travel at all, and 2 coils cut out of the front It was low!

Re: "One really slow build" thread

Well I've made a little more progress on my beater

I put a bumper & a hitch on it

I traded my brother out of this trailer, so I have something to haul my trencher with

First load since I've owned it

I'll be going on a job either tomorrow or some time later this week, so when I come back I'll be ordering my bags & other needed things
