Lance do you mind snapping a picture of the area where the factory AC would mount?

Sitting at a meeting right now, but ill get ya one tonight. I was hoping to use the factory a/c myself, but i think it might be to much to clear. I would really like to no how crash did his. He doesn't have to many pictures to piece it together. Here what i got, the blacks what will still need to be cleared, and the reds what would have to be put back in

Re: 72 chevy modern swap

Lance, this is the option that worked for me. Look for the truck repo bracket for LSX.

Re: 72 chevy modern swap

My headers showed up today!!!!!!!!!11 well one of them............ I opened up my box today and only one headers was in there. There is parts for two headers though. I called jegs and a lady told me the there should be two, and i told her no ****. Told me the company would give me a call monday. oh well. The one headers was the one i needed to find out if it would pass between my crossmember and hydraulic slave. I had success! It looks great but im nervous about the passenger side with coming to close to the starter. You would think that they would be smart enough not to screw that up, but then again they only sent on header haha.

How does the clearance look between the front punkin and the crossmember?

I keep going back and forth on LSX or something far more inferior because of the need to swap the crossmember and add a lift etc really inflating the budget

Re: 72 chevy modern swap

Those headers, I mean header... do look pretty stout. I hope the passenger side works as well as the drivers. What is the part number for those? I'll add them to my headers write-up as another option for us swappers with hydraulic clutches.

You dont have to worry mine is completely stock and have quiet a bit of space between. If you plan on buying a crossmemeber id buy dirty dingos or build one. I wish i would have, pacific fabs had multiple things wrong. I guess mine did.

Re: 72 chevy modern swap

So they sent me a set of headers back! There was even two in the box!! Im happy happy now, and i sent them in to the machine shop to get milled flat. All headers and even the factory manifolds aren't manufactured completely flat. Thats why the bolts end up broken off because of exhaust leak. So they should be back in a day or two.

Re: 72 chevy modern swap

Any progress or plan on your cab?

You obviously have skills tools and a nice place to work even if you have to replace the whole floor might be just as well. Also on the back of the cab sure you know it's beat up and ugly but it's not going to be seen. Besides this is a driver right not a show truck

Good luck and keep us posted with your progress

Re: 72 chevy modern swap

The cab can be fixed yes, but there's more to it. I plan totally restoring it, and going to car shows with it. If i wanted to go mountain climbing or mudding i would've left the old four speed in but needed something a little more highway appropriate. Its just not the can either both of the inner fenders have been torched. Both of the front fender corners are rusted out. I was planning on finding a replacement truck and flip flopping parts to save money. I know regardless theres going to be rust. I just don't always have the time with work. Would take a lot of weight off my shoulders finding a parts truck. You will see what ends up happening, but main goal it to find out where i want everything.

Re: 72 chevy modern swap

After I built my quad cab I cut up the rest of floor from my truck. I could have helped you out if I had not cut it up.
