I like the twin tailgate idea. It would also be nice if you were loading truck bed with trailer attached so you could just load through the trailer with small ramps or something.

Old thread, but the one having the most posts
. How do these trail? I have a utility trailer that you have to load correctly or it'll really start whipping around.

Re: 60-66 Trailer made from a 60-66 bed
Pretty much any single axle is going to be more sensitive to weight distribution but we have built 3 truck bed trailers (no 60-66 unfortunately or would that be fortunately?) and they pull pretty well and seem less prone to wagging than my 5x8 utility trailer but I think we always had longer tongue's on them. We would cut the truck frame right behind the middle cab mounts and V the frame in right infront of the rear cab mount.

Re: 60-66 Trailer made from a 60-66 bed
Mine pulls really well, but I do take care to have a somewhat ideal weight distribution. I haven't had any issues with trailer sway, and that could be because it's built similar to how 350TacoZilla would build them. The original truck frame and 8 foot bed in my case provides a decent weight distribution loaded or unloaded from what I've experienced

Great idea so you don't have to always chock the wheels.

Re: 60-66 Trailer made from a 60-66 bed
How hard is it to bend the frame in?
Does it need to be heated with a torch?

Re: 60-66 Trailer made from a 60-66 bed
So we have heated just the top and bottom of the C channel and then folded them in using a pipe for leverage at the front and one we cut small notches in top and bottom and folded in then welded the seam up. I keep thinking all of them had a small flat bar crossmember welded across the top right at the bend point also to reinforce the area.

How much do you think these could carry?
C10 = 1/2 ton?
