Re: Hot Food
Is that a cat? I don't know what it is. All I know is I want one.

Re: Hot Food
Ha Ha! It's a mustard monster and I just got one.
The website also had this. "The Hotdogger" It seems like a good idea but it looks a little disturbing.

Re: Hot Food
I thought it was some kind of lizard at first, but the internet tag had the term "cat" as part of it, so I figured it was a cat. I wouldn't mind having one of them, either. I'd use it for my wife's mustard. She likes that baby exhaust colored stuff.

Re: Hot Food
The funky hot dog shank reminded me of this Presto device we used when I was young to electrocute our hotdogs. Some history on the device here: http://blog.kevmo314.com/presto-hotdogger.html and in operation here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n2ZZbuOeNmw
Presto remains headquartered locally.

Re: Hot Food
Okay. I did order one of those Hotdogger things too.
I just checked my status on the delivery. And they didn't call it a "Hotdogger" They called it a "Bun Driller" I about fell out of my chair laughing.

There is no way to name that thing by what it does that doesn't come out wrong. The comments I refrained from making were Bun Bore, Bun Reamer... Poke-a-Bun, Bunport 2000?

There's a guy on youtube reviewing it. Seriously reviewing it. Not kidding around.
I was laughing through the whole video.

Re: Hot Food
But split buns make a mess. With a bun driller your buns are neatly packed.

Re: Hot Food
If they are glass shakers, with the pepper shaker upside down use the salt shaker to rub the bottoms together in a circular motion and the pepper will flow out without shaking. I have gotten it to work with some plastic ones but not always. No idea why it works but it always has for me. Waitress at a truck stop showed it to me years ago

Re: Hot Food
Those gals have an education like none other . I'll have to try that. Wait... you're not pulling my leg now are you? It isn't some kind of gay trucker code is it?
Break 1-9. Hey Bundriller you got your ears on good buddy? I watched that video and have my own review... a serious one. It's a fail! 1 - Too much bun for the dog 2 - No place for chili, sauerkraut, taco meat*, even relish, or any other topping 3 - Standard buns are only a mess when you pile too much on. If you can't handle a messy hot dog you need to either learn how to fix it right or just eat it like a man! 4 - Just mustard and ketchup, as shown, does not make a mess. It's the other toppings that you can't add using that reamer. * I like to make taco dogs. Add left over taco meat, top it like a taco and crumble tortilla chips. Great way to use bottom of the bag pieces.

I use this gadget. A hot dog roller. They come out great. I make taco burgers. Which is basically a Sloppy Joe with taco meat. It's going to sound weird. But I used to go to this place and this is how they made them. and they were really good. The first time I made one for my wife I got the "You're out of your mind" look This is how I make them. 1. Any type of bun. (I just use the cheap one's) 2. Ground beef with taco seasoning. 3. Thousand Island dressing. (I make my own) 4. American cheese. (not melted). 5. Sliced dill pickle. (I buy the big ones and slice them myself). 6. Shredded iceberg lettuce. That's it. Fast and easy. It doesn't sound like it would work but it really does. And lot's of napkins. They're messy little devils. Good but messy.

Re: Hot Food
A hot dog to me is not a food in itself. I have to be dang hungry with no other options to want a hot dog with mustard and ketchup (reamed or split). To me at hot dog and bun are the foundation to build from. The simplest way I eat them is mustard, onions, and relish. And at home this is the relish. It's a must on most sausage I eat, too
And for the worldly food shopper, here ya go. These are the pickled products: https://shop.mccutcheons.com/Pickled-Products-C120.aspx

Re: Hot Food
Well the UPS guy showed up with my stuff today. Time to light some stuff on fire. (Not literally. But I've done that before a couple times. )
So far the only one I've taste tested is the Colon Cleaner. It's really good but it delivers that slow burn that creeps up on you and sticks with you. And at 50,000 to 250.000 Scoville units it's pretty hot. I'm going to do some wings with it. Tabasco is 3750 Scoville units. Shriracha is 2200 for comparison. I put the Cento pepper relish on everything. And I was running out. I threw in the Harold's Reno Moonshot cocktail glass. Just because I think it's cool. Flip it upside down and it's a shot glass. Circa 1968. And of course I had to tease my wife with the bun driller...She called me a pervert. And then she asked if the mustard monster was for the grandkids. I said no. It's for me. Then she called me a child. I can't win here folks. But it's still a lot of fun.

Re: Hot Food
I went the other direction from hot food and got this ice cream that is to die for. A PA outfit called Turkey Hill makes it, Triple Chocolate! Like Neopolitan, which I never thought was great, but with milk chocolate w/small flakes of crunchy chocolate, dark chocolate in the center, and just plain chocolate that also has flaky chips in it. It's really 5x chocolate and if you add syrup that's 6!
Chicken fajitas last night for hot food. Never real hot but I do spice them up.

I usually just get Thrifty ice cream. Thrifty was an old drug store chain that was known for their ice cream. Rite Aid bought them out and changed the name on everything...Except the ice cream. It still has the old logo and everything. It's pretty good. I mostly make milkshakes. I have one almost every day. I've got one of those little bullet mixers. Easy peasy. My wife buys some fancy chocolate syrup for her iced coffee. I forget the name. But it makes a mean milkshake.

Re: Hot Food
Yeah, I thought about offering to send you a sample carton of ice cream but that would not be a very nice thing to do to you . This stuff was thrifty, on sale for $2.50 for an almost 1/2 gallon. I bought it Thursday and was all gone last evening. That's hi-performance ice cream!
That's cool the ice cream brand lives on, at least. We always had Rite Aid here in town. Then a new shopping center with a CVS. I think that was our regional "Peoples Drug" at first, before the monster buyout killed them off. Now I see our Rite Aid has become a Walgreens. For all my pharmacy needs I go to the Mt. Airy Pharmacy on Main St in the old downtown in the old train depot. I never go in those big box ones ever since digital cameras
