Re: Taking the leap to build

Jeremy69 there are several different sealers you can use. AIC is not the most expensive out there nor is it the cheapest. I have used it on several projects in the past and have had great results with it. Good luck on your project

Thanks Shaun. I stumbled across this one and could not pass it up for the price. Hopefully it will be going to the blaster on Monday which will save be a butt load of time sanding on it.

Thanks Jeremy. The next thing on the list is the new cab. It is coming back from the media blaster today so I should be busy this weekend.

One thing I have learned about body work over the years is dont be scared and take your time. Trial and error is not the fastest way but you learn what not to do next time.

Re: Taking the leap to build

It has been a while since I have given an update on the truck. Had some family issues to attend to and was not able to work on her for a while but now Im back on her. Got her back from the media blaster and she looks pretty good. Found some cancer that had been covered up with bondo but nothing major. Going to spray some sealer on her to keep her from rusting and start cutting out the cancer.

Thanks but I can not take the credit for the metal work. I have had some family issues come up so I took my truck to Art Busche to have the metal work done and he is going to paint it for me. If you are in the DFW area look him up, he does some kick a$$ work.

If it wasnt for the other issues going on I would have done the metal work myself, but he was still going to paint it anyway.

Re: Taking the leap to build

Got some work done on the truck this weekend. I was able to go over to by good friend's Art Busche Designs and do some work on my truck. Got the old cab off and the new cab on along with the front sheet metal. Now Art will do his thang and adjust the panels and get it all ready to pull all apart agian and paint it. Art was able to hook me up with a local powder coating company that is going to powder coat the frame and suspension for just a little more than what it was going to cost to spray the frame. So I figured why not powder coat it. So that means a little more work for me taking it all apart but it sure will look good when its done.

Re: Taking the leap to build

It had been a while since I did any work on the truck. Like a lot of other builds life gets in the way and takes priority. But now it looks like I will have some time to work on my truck again.

Also like so many other builds it started out as a simple update some things to make the drivability and reliability better. But oh how a few months of sitting without any work being done on it and the mind wondering that all of a sudden the build has changed and a total transformation starts.

Yes I too have fallen victim to the simple build turning into a massive highly modified build. So here I go with just a couple teaser pictures and very short list of what I will be starting to do now.

New custom frame, air ride and 20" steelies for starters. I will do my best to update, with pictures of course, as I start getting things rolling.
