Re: 85 C10 Project "Walking Horse"

If your rubbing with a 40 upfront you have more than 5" of drop or really weak springs. It sounds you got a 3" drop spring which you may have 5.5" of drop. Take your stock springs and remove one round, then grind a flat on the bottom, swap sides and try them.

Well I just ordered the new 3/4 ton springs and will give them a try. Other folks with the McGaughys kit are running into the same problem. I should have skipped the kit because we didn't use the notch either. I listened maybe just not close enough. LMAO. I think I will hold off on new tires until I see what the new springs are like. I have to by new tires anyways since I stole these off the burb.

Re: 85 C10 Project "Walking Horse"

I've been down that road before. You may not be happy with the 3/4ton springs and 2-1/2 spindles, you only get about 1-1/2 drop cutting them. I used a 3" spindle and removed 1 round on my blue truck. I ran a 45 series tire on the front.

Re: 85 C10 Project "Walking Horse"

I got the order cancelled before the springs shipped so I will try cutting the stock coil first.

Sorry to clutter your thread on your beautiful truck. Well I changed my mind again and we tried the 3/4 ton springs with a coil cut for two inch drop and I am WAY higher now than I was before and it looks like crap. It rides great with the stiff spring it is just way to high. The rear is tucking and the front has a huge gap.

I thought you were going to get it. The buyer has already made the deposit, but if there was to be any problems with the payment I'll let you know. Thanks for bidding and I've got a few more coming soon.

Apparently you didnt read the fine print. It states that small partial view sneak peaks are allowed.

BTW- The next one is going to be killer.

Its going to be about 2 weeks before I really get going on it. I plan on starting on new build thread when I do, but I'll give a little tease to keep it interesting.

Bobby, I need a picture of your cold air intake. Mainly the filter end of it, please.
