Re: Project wild mouse

I agree on what you said about crate motors. I would rather build mine then have one built for me. Its the way of saying its really mine. not someone elses work.

do you have a high lift and duration cam? and power brakes? if so, your motor might not be producing enough vacuum for the brakes and you might have to run a tank that accumulates vacuum. my friend had to run one on his Chevelle. just my 2 cents.

Re: Project wild mouse

Yup! I have all of that and i've been through this before when your down on vacum you end up with a rock hard pedal . I have just enough vacum to run the brakes . My master cylinder just took a crap !!!! Thanks for the input though!!!

Re: Project wild mouse

O.K. Fellas here's the update ! It's frustrating to even write this. After all the time and money I put in the motor .... Well the fuel pump filled the crankcase full of gas . I drained it reoiled the motor and you guessed it !! It now has a knock that sounds like one of my new rods!!!!!! I shut the garage door and haven't touched it since . I will just a little frustrated right now . Oh well I got to drive it like 3 miles . Well worth my $6000 dollars . It will run before spring again !!!!!! Hopefully not to much damage just bearings if i'm lucky . Oh by the way I have no Luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Project wild mouse

Sorry about the motor I've been their once or twice. Gotta tell ya I like the style of your house! Is it new or a remodel? I have been working on a 1890's crafsman style as well as my truck projects, never enough time for both.

Re: Project wild mouse

The house was built in 1902 . Been working on it approx 5 yrs. Started inside and working my way to the outside. I know the feeling about running out of time&money . But I will finish the house eventually and fix my sick truck before summer. I will drive it to Good Guys in Des Moines in July if I have to put my lawn mower engine in it . Thanks for the comments on the house . I think it would have been easier to build a new one!!!!

Yes it would but anyone can get a new house. How many people can say their house is over 100yrs and still standing! Their are alot of work but well worth it. I am almost in mine 3yrs now with about 2 more on the house, 1yr for the shops second floor and 1yr for a rebuild of the two story out house! It's fun pulling things apart and finding out how they did it back then. I found out how they made old houses with stand California earth quakes! They used alot of small pieces of wood to frame them. In the out side of my house their wew only a hand full of full studs everything else looked like scrape lumber. Made for alot of fun cutting foarm board insulation for the 2 3/4" stud cavity

Your House looks great !!!!!! Mine is baloon framed full length 2x4 from top to bottom with fire stops at the second floor level. Crazy how they built things back then. Pretty cool though!!!!!
