I purchased it frm a guy locally, but it is a Tri-Plus hood. It fits really well and is a nice piece as well. Not a thin poor built unit like some others being sold.

It's up in the air right now. I was going to build a diesel powered pro touring car out of it, but we're getting another corvette to build another drag car. So I might just find a 440 and 4 speed for the charger later on. We'll see.

We'll see how I feel tonight. I'd like to get the door the rest of the way taken apart and get it sand blasted. I need to get the doors back on it so I can hang the fenders and line it up.

They were the original green ones and I repainted them. I purchased the new arm rests locally and he gets them from Classic Parts.

We didn't end up going to the truck pull we were going to go to in Mo on Sat, so in between rain showers I started blasting my doors. Man was it hot, muggy and misreable. I just acted like there were hot chicks in the distance so I could get through it.

All in all the doors cleaned up really well. The RH door had some rust through in the lower front corner, and the inners of both corners had holes in them. The LH door had 2 cracks in the window opening and some holes on the inner door skin from where the door was hitting the rocker panel. I was really surprised how little rust holes these actually had.

Here are repair pics. Seeing how I'm strapped for time on this truck, I decided that on the inner panels I would just use my valvoline epoxy and not cut and weld new metal in seeing how I'm in a hurry.

Nope, not getting rid of the screw. That door had 2 cracks in the window opening. One on the inner panel and one on the outer panel. I cut the crack wider and then welded it closed. Then ground it smooth.

Last night I got the RH inner side sprayed with etch primer and sealer primer. I also cleaned up the door hinges and primed them. This morning I went back to the shop and the dang thing was kind of tacky. I put it out side in the hot sun to cure longer. Then I started on the body work on the LH inner side of the door. My hardener for my filler wasn't too happy so I will have to get some more.

What are you using to blast those?

Are you using sand or a different type of media like walnut shells or glass?

How bout your blasting tank, you got one of those portable ones or what?

We have a small pressure pot sand blaster we got at harbor freight tools. It works great. I used silica sand and you can get that from most hard ware or lumber yards. Menards is where I got this batch. I'll take a pic of it and post it for you.

I don't have a HF or Menard's up here, but i am familiar with what you are referring to and know where to get them. I just have never had much experience using that pressure pot set up for some thing like this.

Do you find there is potential for warping and you have to be careful or is it not a big deal? I will only be doing sheet metal, for the couple hundred bucks i'll have a pro do the frame and such.

Here is the one I was using, I think. I can put 2 bags of sand in the one we have. As far as warpage, don't stay in one spot very long, and try not to heat up the metal. On thinner metal hold the nozzle farther back. And yes, on the bigger stuff I'd send it out too. I'll be sending my box off if I ever get the cab and front clip back together.
