Re: 67 C-10 project.

well, i guess when it rains it pours. i found another motor for my truck and it is too good of a deal too pass up! An original , never rebuilt 67 327 motor that came out of a long bed C-10 truck 10 years ago. it was running when it was pulled and it has been sitting in the PO garage under a tarp for 10 collecting dust. He said that he was saving it for a special project, but it never happened. it has all of the original parts i believe and is complete as well he thinks. about 90 k miles on it, ran strong, but burned a little oil when he pulled it. $375 dollars for it!

Re: 67 C-10 project.

well, tomorrow night i take the truck to get the rear axel seals replaced. After i drop it off, i'm heading south to Winfield and picking up the 327 in the van. can't wait!
tonight, i tried to install my horn parts. LOL, when i dropped the metal spring in there, the horn went off! Scared the heck out of me! i didn't think the wiring would be working! took me a second to get the spring back out, and the horn works great! LOL, then i unhooked the battery and put the parts in how i thought they went, but i hooked the battery back up and no horn. i either blew a fuse if there is one, or i don't quite have the spacing quite right on the spring and stuff...i ran out of light and time, so i'll try again tomorrow.

Re: 67 C-10 project.

well, it's been a week or so since i've done anything to the truck. but i have been busy aquiring parts for her....i drove it to El Dorado last night and picked up the 350 engine that we pulled out on the day before. So i have that engine in the back of the truck now. i still have the 327 engine in the back of my van. then i picked up a stock 67 folding seat for it and got that shoved in the van with the 327. today i found a front crossmember and powering steering box off a 73 that i have to go to Ark City tomorrow hopefully and pick up. So that will get me into disc brakes! yeee haw! so, now i have to figure out how to get the motor out of the van so i can get the cross member in there....i really need a darn engine hoist! and a couple engine stands would be nice! So now i just need some warmer weather! supposed to get down to -1 in the next day or tonight....brrrr! i'm so excited! now i need to start getting it together!

well i dony no how you would do it but i would put the 350 in and on the cold dats bundle up and try and make it run ! then put in th seat ,and get the 327 in the garage and take off all the paint and grease and paint it then take it apart and clean it all up and reassemble it

Re: 67 C-10 project.

yes, that's the plan. i just need warmer weather and a engine hoist. more than likely i'll just rent one for a weekend. yeah, the 327 defintely is getting rebuilt. hence the 350...it was just rebuilt and runs great. i think i have sold the inline 6 that's in at well...i think what will happen is since i'm going to replace the front crossmember, i'll completely remove the front sheetmetal, and everything, clean up the frame and get at least the front painted while i have it all apart, then get the crossmeber installed, and the engine and tranny installed and then get the front sheetmetal replaced. i'll have a 68 left front fender to sell if anyone needs one. it's got some damage and rust on the bottom, but it's not horrible. at least the front grill and radiator mounting metal is all straight and everything. i think the firewall will clean up nicely. the inner fender wells are in pretty good shape as well. i just gotta remember it aint no show truck. just clean and functional is what i'm going for for now.

Re: 67 C-10 project.

well, not much of an update but i think it was a major step forward as far as parts go. I went to Arkansas City this morning and picked up a front crossmember from a 73 or 74 half ton. it has power steering an he just cut the frame and left everything on there for me. I paid $200 for the whole thing...i didn't think that was too bad. It was driveable two years ago. Now i have enought parts ammassed i think to get some serious work done! i just gotta get a wood working project finished in my shop and then i'm going to gut it and try and get the truck moved in there and get started on it. it's starting to snow now so i covered the 350 in the back of the truck with some old rugs. i did manage to get the 327 out of the van today and into the garage....yeesh...i gotta get me a shop crane and at least one engine stand!

Re: 67 C-10 project.

lol, very carefully! it took us (my son and I) about 30 minutes to get it out. i found a heavy wood board and using the method like the Egyptians used with a sheet of plywood and 4 round tubes, just rolled it down the ramp and onto a floor jack, and then drug it into the garage. it worked pretty slick with no lifting required really. just keeping it balanced etc. was work enough. man that ****s heavy! it looked easy to get out compared to the crossmember...i'll post a picture of in the back of the van soon. we put it in there with a tractor....
